ESTRADA -- Eleanor A. Estrada, 97, a resident of Albuquerque for the last 4 1/2 years, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. She was faithful in prayer and God gave her the sweetest spirit. Eleanor was born in Phoenix, Arizona on February 20, 1912, a week after Arizona became a state. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Bonita Ortiz of Albuquerque; her daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Victor Sanchez of Tempe, AZ; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, who will greatly miss her loving and kind manner and ready smile. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel; and daughter, Annie. In their youth, she and her brother, George, who passed away last month were both entertainers, he a singer and she a dancer. She will be remembered for her generosity, loyalty, and great sense of humor by the many friends and relatives whose lives she touched in her 97 years of life. Eleanor will forever live in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she cherished and loved unconditionally. FESTA -- Jacob "Jake" Ryan Festa, age 20, beloved father, son, and brother, was called to his heavenly home by the Lord, Wednesday, June 3, 2009. GLASS -- JOHN STRIDER GLASS John died on May 30, 2009 at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 29, 1924 to David W. Glass and Florence W. Hess. John grew up in Baltimore, where he graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Engineering from John Hopkins University. His education was interrupted by one year's service in the Army in 1945-46. John moved to Albuquerque in 1950 where he worked for the City of Albuquerque as an engineer and then for the Sandia Air Force Base as a personnel specialist. In 1951, he met Margaret Helen Ewing of Salem, Oregon who was also working at the Base. A year later they married. Their only child, Nancy L. Glass was born in 1954. Margaret, the love of his life, died on August 22, 1956. John never remarried. In 1955 he began his career in hospital administration, taking a managerial position with Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. In 1957-58, he attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned his Master of Hospital Administration. He served as assistant administrator at Presbyterian Hospital until 1962. From 1962 until 1968, John was administrator of the Carrie Tingley Hospital for Crippled Children in Truth or Consequences. In 1968 in Santa Fe, he created the Northern New Mexico Comprehensive Health Planning Council (NORCHAP), which he directed until 1976. After a brief time as a private health care consultant, John became vice president at Presbyterian Medical Services in 1977. He retired in 1990. John is survived by his daughter, Nancy who resides in Salem, Oregon with Neil McKay; cousins Robert Hess of Fairfax, VA and Joseph Hess of Tiburon, CA; brother-in-law, Robert Ewing of Brentwood, TN; nephew, Fredric Ewing, and his wife, Vanessa Ewing, also of Brentwood, TN and their children Kimberly Ewing Owen and Michael Ewing; niece, Janet Ewing of Brentwood, TN; and Ralph, his faithful ole dog. John was pre-deceased by his brother, David Glass and his sister-in-law, Martha Glass, formerly of Fairfax, VA. John had many interests, which included golf, photography, birding, jazz, travel, and reading. He was a devout Christian and was very active in St. Bede's Episcopal Church. The family thanks all those who provided wonderful, loving care for John, including Evelyn Chavez, Laura Hiserote, Carol Powers, Rachel Whitney and the staff at Presbyterian Medical Services Hospice, and the members of St. Bede's Episcopal Church. A Wake will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Bede's Episcopal Church which is located at the southeast corner of W. San Mateo Road and St. Francis Drive in Santa Fe. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009 at St. Bede's Episcopal Church (same address) with a Graveside Service to follow at 2:30 p.m., at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd, SE in Albuquerque. Donations may be made to St. Bede's Episcopal Church or to the humanitarian or natural resource organization or cause for which you have a passion. GUTIERREZ -- Francisco (Frank) X. Gutierrez, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away comfortably at home on June 2, 2009. Frank was born and raised in Albuquerque's Old Town area. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Augusta; his son, Philip J. Gutierrez and wife, Darlene; his daughters, Dolores Naranjo, Regina Gutierrez and Paula Estes and husband, Scott; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Frances, Theresa and husband, Ron, Mary Jo and Rosie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Frank was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving for 24 years. His military service included flying 50 missions during WWII with the 451st bombardment group, a Hurricane Hunter with the 53rd Recon Squadron, military air transport with the 1604 Air Base, Constellation Radar with the 551st Engine Squadron and military Amateur Radio Service at the Pentagon. After retiring from the Air Force in 1969, he worked at Pat Goowin's Office Supply. He was a member of the American Legion Post 13, and VFW Post 401. A Graveside Blessing will be Monday, June 8, 2009 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1400 Edith NE at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be members of the U.S. Air Force. HAMMERSLEY -- Frederick Hammersley, abstract painter, born in 1919, died peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2009 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 90. Hammersley is known as one of the Los Angeles-based "Abstract Classicists" whose work gained international attention through the exhibition Four Abstract Classicists at the Los Angeles County Museum in 1959. The term "hard-edge" was coined at the time to describe the geometric, abstract paintings by Hammersley, Karl Benjamin, Lorser Feitelson, and John McLaughlin. Hammersley moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1968 to assume the position of Assistant Professor of Art at the University of New Mexico and remained in Albuquerque until his passing. Hammersley is survived by his sister Susie H. Stone, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. There will be a Memorial Service on June 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the University of New Mexico Alumni Chapel.

HAYES -- Corbin Blake Hayes, 13, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on May 28, 2009. Corbin was a born July 27, 1995 the son of Gregory L. and Kimberley Ann Green Hayes in Littleton, Colorado. KIRKWOOD -- Carol Furman, 86, of Albuquerque; born 9-4-22 in Princeton NJ, formerly of Hugo MN; passed away 6-2-09 at home after a short illness. Preceded in death by husband Sam Kirkwood and brother Richard Furman. Survived by her children, Nancy (Don Tennent) and Duncan (JoAnn) Kirkwood; three grandchildren, Jenn Tennent, Hannah Tennent, Jennifer Peterson; and three great-grandchildren, Alexia, Andrew, Tyler Peterson; sister-in-law Patty Furman; niece Margo; nephew Nat; and many cousins. After graduating from Wellesley College in 1944, Carol attended graduate school in biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin. Carol enjoyed birds, gardening, the arts, bridge, tennis, and the company of many good friends. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to all the friends, family and caregivers who provided so much support during Carol's illness. MARTINEZ -- Juan May 5, 1918 - June 3, 2009 Juan has been chosen to meet his "Dear Lord" at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife, Tillie Martinez, and they have been married for 70 years. Also survived by six daughters, Linda, Barbara, Mary Lee, Virginia, Dorothy, and Joanne. He also had two sons, Abel and Toby, who have both passed away. He has 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Along with his sister, Lupe and his brothers Moises and Tony, his entire family will miss him dearly. Juan brought much joy to his family and all who encountered him. Thanks to the whole family and all our friends for your support. May our loved family member rest in peace.

PERRY -- Terry Perry, 54, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away May 28, 2009 at home, under the care of Hospice and family. Terry was born in Port Arthur, TX. He graduated from Santa Fe High in 1972 and lived in many beautiful locations. He is survived by his partner of 28 years, Greg Adams; his mother, Wanda Gordon-Juhasz and her husband John Juhasz of Albuquerque; his father, Earl F. Perry and his wife Elizabeth Perry of Albuquerque; his brother, Kent Perry and his wife Martha Perry of Roswell; along with many more loving family members and friends. A Service will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida on June 6, 2009 to celebrate his life and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.

PETRULLO -- Delma M. Petrullo, 60, died peacefully in Albuquerque on June 3, 2009. Delma was born September 24, 1948 in New York City. She was the daughter of Henry and Lillian (Burger) Karl. Delma showed a passion for art from her earliest years. Throughout her life, Delma expressed her internal beauty, externally, by her many tangible pieces of art in several media such as paintings, sculptures, and molded paper works. In this way, she continues to live on in the hearts of those who possess some of her works. Her love of art was formally established after her graduation from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan where she manually designed fabrics before the advent of computer aided design. She then taught art and art history at Briarcliffe College in Long Island and worked with the National Center for Disability Services at the Henry Viscardi School also in Long Island. Delma's interest in art continued when she and her husband moved to New Mexico in 1997. One of her greatest achievements was founding the Rio Rancho Art Association. As a Rio Rancho city councilor, she kept a constant eye on ways to improve the quality of life and the aesthetic appeal of the city. She was dedicated to her role as a city councilor for Rio Rancho and was most recently appointed as the deputy mayor. Delma is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Rocco Robert Petrullo; her brother Herman Karl and wife Suzy of Lincoln, MA, sister, Cheryll Karl of New York, NY, niece Chantelle Karl of Manhattan, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Antoinette and Ed Bailey of Ocala, FL and a host of friends, former students and constituents. A Celebration of Delma's life will take place at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Performing Arts Center located at Rio Rancho High School, 301 Loma Colorado NE. PIPER -- Charlotte Charlotte Lewis Piper 1922 - 2009 Charlotte Lewis Piper was born in Emporia, Kansas, on November 1, 1922, and passed away in Aurora, Colorado on May 20, 2009. Charlotte resided in Albuquerque from 1948 - 1999. She was a Professor at the University of New Mexico for more than 30 years. Charlotte is survived by her spouse of 63 years, John R. Piper, three children, Bronwyn Schuetze, Jon Piper, and Kimberlee Powelson, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of Charlotte's life will be held on June 18, 2009, at Heritage Eagle Bend Country Club, Aurora, Colorado, where she and her husband have resided for the past ten years.

QUINTON -- Lloyd R. "Don" Quinton, age 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, passed away on June 1, 2009. Lloyd graduated from ADA High School in 1948. Played lap steel on various recordings for Doc Bryant, at Jim Beck studios 1951. Recorded and released a 45 phonograph record in 1970, "Street of Broken Dreams," and "Lights of Albuquerque." His band "Don and the Dukes," played for many years in Albuquerque, Belen and Socorro. His voice was in the style of Jim Reeves and Eddy Arnold. Moved to Albuquerque in 1965 worked at Jet Electronics where he fabricated modules for the Apollo Moon missions. He owned many electronically oriented businesses and also repaired guitar amplifiers for many of the local musicians over the years, including Glen Campbell. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Robert Quinton and Janette Hayes Quinton; and one brother, Leo in the 1930's. He is survived by is wife of 26 years, Tuty L. Quinton; three children, Thomas Lee Quinton, Michael Wayne Quinton, both of Albuquerque NM, and Reydonna Christine Stow and husband, Windell, of Durant, OK; four grandchildren, David and Jonathan Quinton, Melissa Garrett, and Angela Lambe; three great-grandchildren, Mickayla, Ethan, and Breanna; one brother, Robert R. ROGERS -- Polly Ann Rogers, age 55, was released from her suffering on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. She was born November 12, 1953, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Polly developed pancreatic cancer in the summer of 2008. She was a wife, mother, teacher, coach and runner. Polly has inspired many athletes, students, and fellow runners. Her dedication, drive, and love will live on in her husband, children, students, and athlete friends forever. Polly leaves behind her husband, Ken Rogers; sons, Christopher and wife Kristie, Joshua, and Benjamin Rogers, and loyal dog, Maggie May. Many special people lessened her suffering and gave her peace. Some of these people include her sister, Peggy Heward; best friends, Sally Machacek, and Mary Martinez; and her doctors, Diane Combs, M.D. and Clark Haskins, M.D. Other surviving family members include her parents, Raymond and Charlene Polanski and grandmother, Edna A. SHORES -- Lt. Col. Quincy C. Shores US Air Force, Retired, 72, died unexpectedly June 02, 2009. He was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Q. C. and Myrtle Shores and is survived by his wife L. Carole Shores; son, Clyde W. Shores and wife Geri, daughter Elizabeth A. Wagner, step-daughters Cathy A. McCurdy and husband Donald D. II, Kelly Helvie, grandchildren, Stuart Helvie, Tyler Wagner, Catherine Shores, Matthew McCurdy, Kurtis Helvie, Emily Shores, Trevor Shores and Preston Shores; cousin, Ann Wilkerson, niece, Taylor McGowan and family as well as numerous friends. Quincy served our country in the United States Air Force before retiring in 1984. He was a very active member of Ducks Unlimited and a member of Mesa Lodge #68 AF and AM, Ballud Abyad Shrine, and many other organizations. STOREY -- Eli R., age 78, a resident of Casa Colorada, NM, passed away peacefully on June 3rd, surrounded by his family. He loved his family very much and loved running his cattle ranch in Casa Colorada. Eli was a vocational agriculture teacher at Belen High School for over 30 years. Mr. Storey was very proud of the accomplishments of all of his Future Farmer of America students at Belen High. Mr. Storey attended Belen High School and graduated from New Mexico State University. He went on to serve as 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force. Mr. Storey also held a Masters in Education from the University of New Mexico. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Eli was preceded in death by his loving wife Mabel P. Storey; his eldest son, Roy Alan Storey; his mother Toribia; his father Jesus; sisters Rita, Elizabeth and Neph; brother George; parents-in-law Manuel and Maria Perea. He is survived by his four sons and their wives, Ron and Lisa; Woody and Pam; John and Sonya; Dino and Theresa; and Tina Storey, wife of Roy Alan; 14 grandchildren Sean, Leanne, Nancy, Kyle, Jared, Brett, Matthew, Dana, Denille, Lenell, Samuel, Jacob, Luisa and Patia Ann; 1 great-grandchild Irie; brother Robert. A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Saturday, June 6, at 8:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Internment will follow at the Veguita Catholic Cemetery. SULLIVAN -- Mary Davitt Sullivan, better known to friends and family as "Molly" Sullivan, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 just six weeks short of her 101st birthday. She is survived by her three sons, Jeremiah Sullivan and wife Maureen of Round Rock, TX, James Sullivan and wife Sonia of St. Louis, MO, Donald Sullivan and wife Barbara of Albuquerque, NM, her eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Jeremiah, James, Heather, Shannon, Sean, Leslie and Brandon, her three great-grandchildren, Maureen, Timmy, and Gabriela, as well as her siblings Sheila Gallagher and Michael Davitt of Palenville, NY and Nora Lynam and Anthony Davitt of County Mayo, Ireland and numerous nieces and nephews. Molly was born on July 12, 1908, on the family farm in Belmullet, County Mayo, Ireland. She was the second oldest of the twelve Davitt children. She left Ireland on her 18th birthday and sailed on the S. S. Franconia to New York where she worked for many years as a maternity nurse. Molly married her husband, Jeremiah Sullivan, in 1946. They spent 44 years together in NY before his death in 1990. Molly moved to Albuquerque on Mother's Day in 2002. She has been known over the years for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She spent the last four and a half years of her life living with her many new friends at Las Colinas Retirement Home in Albuquerque. In her honor a "Celebration of Life" memorial for Molly will be held this Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 2 to 3 at Las Colinas at 500 Paisano NE. TRUJEQUE -- Joe Y. Trujeque, 70, a resident of El Paso, Texas, Passsed away on Thursday, May 28, 2009, following a long illness. Born in Albuquerque, NM Joe went to El Paso, Texas for his job, liked it and decided to stay and make it his home. He is survived by his sons Joseph Trujeque, wife Fidela, Paul Trujeque, his daughters Tina Johnston husband Patrick, Susan Lucero husband Pete, Raquel Chavez husband Mark; his brothers and sisters Emma, Margaret, Sally, Johnny, and Gilbert; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. VALDEZ -- Daniel "DJ" Valdez Jr., age 17 of Albuquerque, NM passed away on June 3, 2009 at 5:22 a.m. he is survived by his mother, Christine; father, Daniel M. Valdez Sr.; younger brother, Zachary, his beloved girlfriend, Evangelina Angel and their soon to be born son, Dante Daniel Valdez; his grandparents, Samuel and Louise Main, Benedicto and Alcarita Valdez; and his mentor and his wife, Anthony & Chyla Esquibel, and their daughter, Mariah. Friends and family are invited to share in his memory.
