MARTINEZ -- Estolano Acorsino Martinez, 89, was escorted by St. Joseph, his patron saint, to his Heavenly Father on Monday, April 6, 2009, with his family at his bedside. He will be in eternal rest with his beloved wife, Anita; his son, Danny and his daughter, Clarissa. Estolano was born on January 13, 1920 in Holman, NM to Benito Sanchez and Lucaria Martinez. He served in the Conservation Corps Camps and was in the Army in WWII. Estolano and Anita were married in 1942 and moved to Albuquerque in 1948. During their 58 years of marriage, they had two sons and five daughters. Estolano was a self-taught Master Carpenter and General Contractor. He built many fine custom homes and structures still standing today as a tribute to his craftsmanship. He portrayed these same excellent skills in the building of Winrock Center in the 1960's. As a lifelong parishioner of St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church, he contributed to its construction and financial support. He also built the Mora Elementary School as a tribute to his ancestry. He is survived by one sister, Libradita (Lala) Salazar; son, Robert Lee Martinez and wife, Linda; daughters, Rita Martinez, Linda Bassi and husband, Richard, Anita Mia Garcia and husband, Gilbert, and Maria Elena Maestas; son-in-law, Martin Valdez . Estolano was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren, Danita Martinez, Christina Browning and husband, Tony, Bobby Martinez and wife, Melissa, twins, Michael Wilson and wife Donna, Matthew Wilson and wife, Noriko, Marie Olson and husband, Matt, Mark Bassi, Kristy and Christopher Garcia, Fabian Maestas and wife, Marianne, Mariah Maestas, Jacob, Lucas and Adam Valdez; 11 great-grandchildren, Max, Holly, Matthew, Stacia, Kyra, Kaya, Rachel, Eleanor, Elizabeth Anita, Izabella and Colin; plus many relatives throughout northern New Mexico, Colorado and Albuquerque, including his special friends, Lorenzo and Carol Polaco and Pascual and Stella Martinez. Estolano will always be remembered for his sense of humor, charm and dimpled smile. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Rosary will be recited Monday, April 13, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church, 3400 4th Street NW. Visitation at the church will be one hour prior to Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church with interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE.
