GONZALES -- Katherine "Kathy" Gonzales, a resident of Albuquerque, entered into eternal rest on March 2, 2009. She was born Katherine Jeanette Mitchell in Fort Hood, Texas, on March 24, 1949. She spent her early years in Fort Hood, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; Fort Lewis, Washington as she traveled with her Army family. As a young girl, she loved to fish. Her teen years were spent in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from cosmetology school, and then in Oklahoma. She took pride in her Scottish, Irish and Canary Islander heritage. The mid-seventies brought her to Albuquerque, where she married Wayne Gonzales on January 24, 1975; worked for General Electric, and later established her own business, American Made Dental Lab. Kathy was an avid painter, crafter, and reader; and enjoyed her pets. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Gonzales; and by her parents, Neal F. Mitchell Sr., and Gertrude B. De La Zerda-Mitchell. She is also survived by her brother-and sister-in-law, Neal and Linda Mitchell, and niece Misty Mitchell-Arispe, nephew Shane N. Mitchell, and great-nephew Shane A. Mitchell (all of San Antonio, Texas). She is also survived by numerous brother-and sister-in laws, including Carl and Carmen Gonzales of Albuquerque and Mike Gonzales of California, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy's cremains will be buried with her husband. A memorial service will be held at Heights 7th Day Adventist church, 4920 Wyoming NE at 11:00am March 29, 2009.
