ANDERSEN -- Paul W. "Bill" Andersen, 79, a resident of Albuquerque for 42 years, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eleanor P. Andersen; children, Christian Andersen and wife, Cecilia, Donald R. and wife, Denise all of Albuquerque, and Gail Henkle and husband, Terry of Centennial, CO; seven grandchildren, Ryan Andersen and fiancee Lauren Cavanaugh, Matt Andersen and wife, Kerri, Katie Andersen, Ian and Erik Andersen, Michael Henkle and Scott Henkle and wife, Samantha; one great-granddaughter, Acacia Henkle; and other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Oda Andersen; and his great-grandson, Aidan Wesley Henkle. He was born on February 20, 1930 in San Antonio, TX and graduated from Edison High School. After high school, he entered the United States Navy where he proudly served as a crew member on TBM Avengers with VS-32. In 1955 he went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air-traffic controller, retiring in 1974. Bill loved motorcycles and was a founder of the New Mexico Trials Association. He was an endowment member of the NRA. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Faith in Christ Lutheran Church, 1750 Faith Court NE (Chelwood & Indian School) Interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 2:30 p.m.. ARAGON -- Excelso Aragon, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, formerly of Valencia, NM, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009. Mr. Aragon was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Esac and Raquel Aragon; brother, Isidro Aragon; sister, Mary Castillo brother-in-law, Jimmie Castillo. He is survived by his children, Vicky Reyes and son-in-law, Martin Reyes, Gilbert Jose Aragon and daughter-in-law, Denise, John Anthony Aragon, Mauricia Susan Espinosa and son-in-law, Matthew; grandchildren, Alonso Trevizo, Alfredo Trevizo, Luis Angel Trevizo, Mari Cruz Trevizo, Jesse Lopez, Megan Espinosa, Marissa Espinosa and Marcus Espinosa all of Albuquerque; great-granddaughters, Raylene Jaramillo of Bernalillo; and Diamond Trevizo; sister, Mauricia Montoya & brother-in-law, Augustine. He is also survived by his Aunt, Gabriela Morelock and many other family members and friends. Excelso was known as a man who enjoyed dancing. BIANCHETTI -- Donna Gayle Farnell Bianchetti, 47, was born in Albuquerque on December 9, 1961 and passed away Monday, March 16, 2009. Her paternal grandparents Robert and Diana "Honey" Farnell; maternal grandfather George Kloepfer and uncle Carter Kloepfer preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Drew Lyerly; father George Farnell; mother Lynn Seaman and her husband Jack; brother Dean Farnell and his wife Hoa; and niece Petra Farnell. BOICE -- Edmund W. (Bill) Boice passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2009. Bill is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Liz); his parents Ed & DiAnn of Santa Fe, New Mexico; his sisters Lisa and Pat and brother Rick, all of New Mexico. Bill loved his extended family, Sister, Chris, Sandra and Melissa Utsey, all of Jacksonville; Robert and Lisa Utsey and their two children Maggie and Alex of Orlando; and Holley Romagnoli of Rome, Italy. Bill was deeply loved and there are no words to describe how much he will be missed. Bill's greatest loves were his wife Liz, all of his kitties, motorcycles, beautiful homes, great wines and fly fishing. Bill was a tremendous husband, son, brother and friend with a generous heart and love for life. A private celebration of his life will be held Monday, March 30, 2009. Bill asked that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital.

BOWRA -- Christine H. Bowra, age 100, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009. Mrs. Bowra was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. Bowra; son, Claude R. Strait; son-in-law, Norman I. Ostroff; parents, Elijah Claude Herron and Jesse Mildred Herron and five siblings. She is survived by her children, Patricia B. Schooler and husband, Craig of Los Lunas; Charlotte A. Ostroff of Casa Robles, CA and Carolyn J. Brasch and husband, Tom of Spokane, WA. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, one niece, two nephews and a cousin, Lucille Woods of Albuquerque. Mrs. Bowra will be laid to rest with her husband at a later date in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Transportation Fund of the Ballut Abyad Shrine Center in Albuquerque. DUQUETTE -- G.P. "Duke" Duquette died in his wife's arms surrounded by love on March 6, 2009. He was greatly loved & will be profoundly missed. He is survived by his wife Ruthe Duquette, his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea & Chuck McCrae and his daughter, Kristen Duquette-LeFevre; two grandsons; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson; a sister and nephews and nieces; and many friends. Duke was truly a "renaissance man". A veteran of the Korean War, his career path included bricklayer, salesman, educator, pioneer in computer technology & solar energy. He was an accomplished artist in every medium he tried. His art of cooking was how he expressed his love for his family & friends. His secret ingredients were passion & love. Duke's unique & incredible mind was a gift to the planet enjoyed by the many who knew him as well as those who didn't. FINZ -- Robert S. Bob Finz of New York and Albuquerque passed away recently in New York from complications of aortic surgery performed some ten weeks ago at the Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York. Bob turned 92 on February 11th of this year. His birthday was celebrated in the Hospital ICU. Bob is survived by his son Steve Finz and wife, Iris, of The Sea Ranch, CA, daughter Janet Finz of Tracy, CA, and son Gene Finz of Albuquerque and Miami, FL. Gene will be escorting his Dad back home to Albuquerque one last time for a Memorial Service this Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 11 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel, 924 Menaul, NE at Edith. Those who loved Bob will be invited to the podium to share their memories. We would love to hear from you if you wish. GERHARDT -- Hillard Gerhardt, 82, a resident of New Mexico since 1961, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 25, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 59 and 1/2 years, Annie Gerhardt of Cedar Crest; grandchildren Johnathan Gerhardt and wife Magdalena, Hillari Straba, Lizzy Straba; and three great-grandchildren all of Albuquerque; and brothers Rudolph Gerhardt and Edgar Gerhardt and wife Dottie of Boonville MO. Mr. Gerhardt was preceded in death by his son Larry Gerhardt and daughter Shirley Straba. After retiring, Hillard continued to enjoy his passion for woodworking as a member of New Mexico Woodturners. Mr. Gerhardt was a long time member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Services will be held Tuesday, March 31, at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 7834 Tennyson Dr. N.E. 87122. GONZALES -- Katherine "Kathy" Gonzales, a resident of Albuquerque, entered into eternal rest on March 2, 2009. She was born Katherine Jeanette Mitchell in Fort Hood, Texas, on March 24, 1949. She spent her early years in Fort Hood, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; Fort Lewis, Washington as she traveled with her Army family. As a young girl, she loved to fish. Her teen years were spent in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from cosmetology school, and then in Oklahoma. She took pride in her Scottish, Irish and Canary Islander heritage. The mid-seventies brought her to Albuquerque, where she married Wayne Gonzales on January 24, 1975; worked for General Electric, and later established her own business, American Made Dental Lab. Kathy was an avid painter, crafter, and reader; and enjoyed her pets. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Gonzales; and by her parents, Neal F. Mitchell Sr., and Gertrude B. De La Zerda-Mitchell. She is also survived by her brother-and sister-in-law, Neal and Linda Mitchell, and niece Misty Mitchell-Arispe, nephew Shane N. Mitchell, and great-nephew Shane A. Mitchell (all of San Antonio, Texas). She is also survived by numerous brother-and sister-in laws, including Carl and Carmen Gonzales of Albuquerque and Mike Gonzales of California, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathy's cremains will be buried with her husband. A memorial service will be held at Heights 7th Day Adventist church, 4920 Wyoming NE at 11:00am March 29, 2009. He retired from General Electric in 2006. GRANGE -- Donald C. Grange, 90, resident of Albuquerque since 1955, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at home. He was born Saturday, February 1, 1919 in Longmont, CO to Dr. C.H. and Mary Mae (Cleland) Grange. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy "Dottie" Grange; one daughter, Carol Black and husband, Wayne of Peralta, NM; one son, Gary E. Grange and wife, Betty of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Susan Black Conner and husband, J.D., Patrick Black and wife, Dana, Chad Grange, Kacie Grange, and Jennifer Detrana; five great-grandchildren, Tristen, Liam, Anna, and Madelyn Conner, and Samantha Detrana. Donald graduated with honors from the University of Colorado with a degree in Geology in 1941. He worked as a geophysicist for Brown Geophysical Company in Houston, TX and later as an independent geologist in TX, CO, CA, AZ and NM. He became an Equitable Life Assurance Agent in 1959 and earned a CLU designation in 1964, retiring in 1981. Donald liked to fish and travel, having traveled in all 50 states, Mexico, Canada and many countries in Europe. Cremation has taken place and private services were held. HENSON -- Marguerite Kindrick Henson, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Henson and Kennie Warren and husband, Franklin; grandsons, Kenneth Brickley and wife, Krong-Tong, Jeffry Brickley and wife, Peggy; great-grandsons, Billy, Willy and Pittya Brickley; brothers, John Kindrick and wife, Jean, and Paul Kindrick; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eugene Henson; grandson, Stephen Brickley; brother, George Kindrick; and sisters, Nellie Mitchell and Betty Voigt. Marguerite was born in Colorado and raised in the Estancia Valley area. Her parents were the late CW (Uncle Sam) Kindrick and Bessie Whinery Kindrick. She was an accountant/bookkeeper for the Federal Government in various departments for a number of years. She and Kenneth married in 1941 and were together for 62 years. They loved to square dance and had the opportunity to dance at Albuquerque's 250th Anniversary presentation. Marguerite's greatest joys were her family and home, especially her grandchildren and pets. She was very proud of the fact that her father was a homesteader in Edgewood back in the early 1920's. She was very caring and helpful to all family members in need and was the one to keep the family ties together. A Memorial Service to celebrate Marguerite's life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Chapel. HOFINGER -- Ludwig Hofinger, 74, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday March 27, 2009. He is survived by four daughters, Susie Sanchez (Gilbert), Jenny Price (Janet) of Denver, CO, Elisabeth Hibdon-Hunter (Chris), and Diedre Hofinger (James Copland); brother, Hardi Hofinger; sister, Hannelore Ressler (Horst) of Munich, Germany; grandchildren, Frank (K'ann), Angela, Stephen, Kevin, Ryan, Hannelore, and Gwendolyn; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Renae, Alexandra, and Kaylee. Mr. Hofinger was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Emil Lee. Ludwig was born in Munich, Germany in 1934, and immigrated on a Liberty Ship to Canada in 1954 with $92.00 in his pocket and speaking little English. He chose to become a Uranium Miner in Canada. He then immigrated to Grants, NM in 1962 to work in the Uranium Mines. After a mining accident in 1965, he met and married Emil Lee McNicol who was his nurse. He went on to open one of the first self service car washes in New Mexico in 1966. Ludwig successfully owned and operated Sparkle Carwash and Spray Wash Equipment from 1966 to present. After many years in New Mexico, which he loved, Ludwig became a citizen of the United States in 2004. He will be dearly missed by the family that he was so proud of. MATTHEWS -- Jim Matthews, 88, passed away on March 23, 2009. Jim was born on August 8, 1920, in Pagosa Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary Lawlis. He is survived by family members Linda and Kevin Carroll, Mindy and Jeff Lawlis; grand daughters Letitia and McKinnon Carroll, Tara Rivera, and Lori and Lindsey Lawlis, all of Albuquerque. A WWII Veteran, Jim served in the United States Army in the Philippines and the Army of Occupation in Japan. After his military service, he earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico in 1951. A jeweler and professional photographer for the Arizona Sun in Phoenix, Jim moved to Albuquerque in 1973. Since 1987, Mr. Matthews had been an autumn fixture on the sidelines of Albuquerque Academy football games, where his camera lens caught the on-field action. NIMURA -- Raymond " Kana" Nimura, long time resident of New Mexico, born May 29, 1923, passed away March 22, 2009. He is survived by his caring wife Michiko; son, Robin Nimura; daughters, Rae Freese, Carrie Jo Hamilton, April Steinbeck; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Edna " Fudge" Sato and brother, Richard Nimura. Raymond grew up as one of seven children on the family hog farm in Southern California. He enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after the beginning of World War II, and served a total of 12 years as a Translation Officer for the US Army Military Intelligence Service. During this time, his family was interned at the Amachi Relocation Camp in Southern Colorado. This is where he met Michiko, who was to become the great love of his life. He will be remembered by his family for his gentle manner and unconditional, non-judgmental love. His steady, calm support will be missed by all who loved him. PERRET -- William E. "Bill", 70, passed away Tuesday. Bill is survived by his wife Talma "Bunny." Bill leaves his son Jacob, wife Jennifer, and granddaughter Stacey Niver. Bill's daughter Rachel and her companion Bob Veracka also survive. Bill also leaves a brother, Robert F. D. Perret and his children, Christopher, William, and Jennifer and their families. Born in Shreveport, LA to William and Elizabeth Perret, who preceded him in death, Bill came to New Mexico in 1951 and moved to Rio Rancho in 1984. Bill earned a BA from UNM and an MBA from Anderson School. Learning was his life-long mission. He studied astronomy, astrophysics, computer science, Spanish, French and Arabic. He was an avid reader of pulp fiction westerns and mysteries and loved classical music. Bill worked diligently as a newspaper carrier so he could read two or three papers a day. His knowledge of politics and currents affairs was vast and current up until about a week before his passing. Bill also worked as a teacher and a tax preparer. He will be most sorely missed for his understanding of human nature, his forgiveness, and his sense of humor. Cremation has taken place. ROMERO -- "Tony" Anthony Alfonso Romero, 65, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009, after a short illness. He was born June 13, 1943 to Alfonso and Miquela Romero in T or C, NM. He was predeceased by his father, Alfonso Romero. Mr. Romero is survived by his mother, Miquela Romero; his son, Steven Romero; sister, Carol Romero; girlfriend, Renee Gavino; his former wife, Jane Romero; and two grandsons, Stefan and Elliott Romero. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends. He was a well known musician who played with several groups through out his life. His friends can attest to the fact that he was a fabulous singer, as well as bass, trombone player and friend. He was a part of several groups, among those being, The Velvets, The Surprise Package, The Cayman, The Organization as well as other groups. He always had a funny story or joke for anyone he met. ROUSE -- Alice M. Rouse, age 84, and a 46 year resident of New Mexico died peacefully March 13, 2008. She was born Alice Mae Alexander in Frankton. Indiana on October 7, 1924, and she kept in touch with many of her life-long friends from there. She proudly served as a Navy WAVE from 1946 until 1950. She married Gerald A. Rouse Jr. in 1950, and they had 57 years together until his death in November of 2007. She was a lifelong Christian who belonged to Ridgecrest Christian for seven years and First Christian Church for over 35 years. She and Jerry (Gerald) volunteered at The Storehouse for 27 years. She is survived by her daughter, Joan R. Irey and her daughter, Alicia R. Irey, Helen D. Williams, and Jill Marie Parmentier and her husband, Gary, and grandsons Jarred J. Parmentier and Jason Eric Parmentier. She will be remembered for her honesty, trustworthiness, concern for others, and her love and loyalty to friends and family. The family appreciates prayers. RUE -- Benjamin Harden Rue, 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 after a long illness. Ben was born in Hatch, New Mexico to Mr. and Mrs. Amos Rue on Saturday, December 7, 1918. He married his wife, Janette of 69 years on December 12, 1940. Ben was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Blevens and Henry Rue. Ben served in the U.S. Army from November 1942 to December 1945 and was a World War II Veteran. He served with the 363rd engineers, Special Service Regiment in Iran for 32 months. Ben supervised up to 15 construction equipment mechanics in a unit shop. After leaving the U.S. Army with an Honorable Discharge, Ben went to work in the construction industry, supervising many highway and airport paving projects for 26 years. Ben was an avid Denver Bronco fan with John Elway as his hero. He also was an avid sprint car fan with Steve Kinser, also his hero. Ben was also a dedicated hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Janette of Albuquerque; son Wayne Rue and wife, Colleen of Rio Rancho; grandson, Wayne Rue Jr., and wife, Diana of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Harvey of Albuquerque and sister Millicent Purcella of Roswell, NM. SHUGHART -- Nancy J. Shughart, 70, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on March 16, 2009, in St. Vincent's Hospice in Indianapolis, IN after battling pancreatic cancer. She was born on October 31, 1938 in Darien, CT, and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Alice Vaughan. Nancy was the widow of Lt. Cmdr. James N. Shughart, who died on May 16, 1971. Nancy was a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, CO, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Following her graduation, Nancy worked for the Department of the Navy in Philadelphia, PA. In Albuquerque, she was a homemaker and worked for many years in the business office of West Mesa Pediatrics. She was actively involved in the formative years of AAGTS, the Albuquerque Association Of Gifted & Talented Students. She is survived by her three daughters, Abby (and husband Mike) Downs of Indianapolis, IN, Jennifer (and husband Volkmar) Schmidts of Bettendorf, IA, and Katie (and husband Rod) Crane of Winter Park, FL; nine grandchildren; and her brother, James Vaughan of Windsor, CO. STOCKTON -- Jeffrey Stockton passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Farmington, New Mexico. He was born May 9, 1955 in Albuquerque, the son of William and Maxine Stockton. Jeff was raised in Albuquerque's South Valley and graduated from Rio Grande High School, where he was a star basketball player. Always the practical joker, Jeff was a mischievous little boy who in turn became a wonderful man with a charismatic personality. Every person he met loved him. Jeff enjoyed telling good stories, in most instances, they were tall tales; but we liked hearing them anyway. Anyone whose life was touched by Jeff is truly blessed because he was such a special person. He will be greatly missed by so many! Jeff is survived by his parents, William and Maxine Stockton of Los Lunas, his sister Pamela and her husband John Wolfe of Belen, his nephew and special buddy John Wolfe Jr. of Los Lunas, his son Jacob and wife Melissa Stockton of Farmington and their children, Wyatt and Maddison. THOMAS -- Paulus Powell Thomas, late of the Albuquerque northeast heights, formerly of Los Alamos, died in his home Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the age of 90. An honored veteran of WWII, he and his wife, Lillian, relocated from New Jersey to New Mexico in the late 1940's to assume a position as a scientific glassblower at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. As an amateur theatrical, he was well-known in theatre and light opera circles for his warm baritone and his stellar character appearances. WEAVER -- Gladys Conant Weaver - Loved by All Five years ago this past October 19th, Gladys Conant Weaver went to a better place. She was born March 10, 1910 to John and Gladys Conant near Conant in the northeastern New Mexico territory. Her New Mexico pioneer family of nine generations descended under the Marquez Spanish land grant. Her parents homesteaded Rayo, built the +WT ranch in northeastern Socorro County, and resided at Turn and Bosque in Valencia County. Her four younger brothers were, Johnny, Clifton, Pop and Ken. Gladys was Belen High's 1929 Valedictorian. At the University of New Mexico she was president of Phi Mu sorority. Gladys moved to Los Angeles and wed Tom Kuenster in 1934. She is particularly remembered for her great love, sharing, compassion, enthusiasm, spirituality, sociability, optimism, patriotism, inspiration, grace, and support. She headed numerous causes, concurrently donated to 16 charities, and received the first lifetime achievement award from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Gladys rests at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California beside her daughter Sandy.
