ANDREWS -- John Patrick Andrews of Moab, UT loving father and husband, passed away on March 11, 2009. John was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 7, 1960 to Bob and Mary Alice Andrews. He graduated from high school in Dayton, moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he obtained his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of New Mexico. After being employed by Sperry Flight Systems, John relocated to Salt Lake City and founded a national computer software company with his partner Jim Collar. They relocated the business and their families to Moab in 1996. From the beginning, Footprints was a community fixture. Footprints motto was "we encourage literacy however possible." He felt that it was important to employ local kids to give them experience in atypical jobs. John was quietly and unassumingly generous. Many people in Moab know this first-hand. When you couldn't find John, you knew he was out in the desert on a hike. The desert was his solace. He loved being with his friends and family, rebuilding and maintaining his MG. John is survived by his wife Marie; a son Patrick; a daughter Jamie, his parents Bob and Mary Alice; nine brothers and sisters, mother-in-law Kathryn Zinn, and numerous nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 3:00 p.m., at the Old City Park in Moab. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Grand County Mentoring Program in his behalf. This is one of the many educational programs John supported in Moab. Condolences can be made to the family at www.SpanishValleyMortuary.com
