BOYD -- William Blake Boyd, 62, died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 20, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Blake was born and raised in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from LSU and worked as an educator and businessman for many years. After receiving his BSN degree in 1988, he worked as a Registered Nurse in Shreveport, Albuquerque, NM and Lake Charles, until he retired in 2006. Blake was passionate about life and sharing what he had and knew with others. He was a talented craftsman and artisan, cowboy and sportsman. He loved hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and tending to his animals. Blake was a faithful servant of God and a loving family man and friend who will be missed by all he knew. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. V. D. Josephine Boyd of Lafayette; wife, Dr. Susan Webb Boyd M.D. of Lake Charles; son, Noel Blake Boyd of Lafayette; daughters, Katherine Daigle and husband, Chad, of Lafayette; Lindsay Perry and husband, Nathan of Lafayette; brother, Weldon Dean Boyd and wife, Sue Wickizer, of Cottage Grove, Oregon; sister, Gail Doran of New Mexico; grandchildren, Evan, Katelyn, and Brooke Daigle, William and Blake Perry; special friends, Ann Messinger and husband, Stan of Lafayette, and dozens of nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home Chapel of Peace. The Rev. Tracie McKenzie will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until time of service.
