LAVALLEY -- Gregory "Greg" LaValley, 52, passed away in Houston, TX on Monday, October 27, 2008. Greg is preceded in death his parents Alphonse and Lucy LaValley; his two sisters; Linda Somerndike and Lois Bowen. He is survived by four sisters, Suzie Russell and husband Gayle of TN, Helen Skinner and husband Mitch of NH, Margaret LaValley of Taos, and Mary Williamson of TX; his brother-in-law Bill Bowen of Albuquerque; five nieces Cecilia Boyer of Albuquerque, Jane Carleton of TX, Christine Russell of TN, Samantha Sommer of OH and Melissa Fiedler of TX; four nephews, John Somerndike III and wife Susan of CA, Scott Somerndike of CA, Chris Anuszkiewicz and wife Ginevra of WA and Mark Fiedler of TX; three great-nieces Brianna Boyer of Albuquerque, Jordan Somerndike and Sydney Somerndike, both of CA; and two great-nephews Brandon Boyer of Albuquerque and John Somerndike IV of CA. Greg graduated from Manzano High School in 1974. He was employed at General Electric (GE) for 29 years before retiring in 2007. Greg had a passion for the great outdoors and lived his life to the fullest. He had many friends who loved and respected him and who together with his family, will miss him dearly. A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Daniels Family Funeral Service, Sara Rd. Chapel, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho, NM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Gregory to UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center located at 900 Camino De Salud NE (505-272-4946.)
