DOUGHTERTY -- E. Noel Dougherty passed from earth to glory Thursday, September 11, 2008 - ending a five year battle with health issues ranging from Evans' syndrome and lymphoma to a broken neck and back. While he and his wife decided years ago that no formal Funeral Service would be planned, a very informal celebration of his life will be scheduled at a time to be announced later. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Juandell, of Rociada, NM; and their children, Dennis and Becky Dougherty, of Greeley, CO; Dru and Skip Constantine, of Abilene, TX; Laurie and Dick Holland, of Canyon, TX; Wade and Kat Dougherty, of Las Cruces; and Jenny Tierney, of San Antonio, TX; as well as their 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Terrill and JoAnna Constantine and their daughter Alli; Shawn and Jack Cordry and their children Megan and Kaleb; Jennifer and BJ Reynolds and their children, Jaelynne and Benjamin; Crystal Walker and her daughter Hannah; Jason and Erin Holland and their children Nolan and Payton; Laurel Dougherty; Traci and Chad Massengill; Annika and Craig Kratz; Jordan Holland; Jade Holland; Kelsey Dougherty; and Shannon Ellison; and by eight brothers and sisters: LaNelda Kresge; David and Virginia Dougherty; Ruth Daniel; Wylie and Ruth Ann Dougherty; Alynda and Don Treas; Pete and Michelle Dougherty; Bill and Lois Dougherty; and Jane Westbrook. He was also loved and respected by, and is survived by, scores of nieces and nephews and the generations that follow them as well. Always a farmer and rancher, Mr. Dougherty also enjoyed a career as a peace officer, with a law enforcement career spanning approximately 20 years, beginning with the New Mexico Livestock Board in the early 1970s and ending with his retirement from the Curry County Sheriff Department in 1988, after serving two terms as Sheriff.
