BURMEISTER -- Bruce D. Burmeister, 51, of S. Spencer Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away June 21, 2008 in Springfield, MO. A Celebration of Bruce's Life is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2008, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors at the Elks Lodge # 1558 following the service. There will be a reception following the services at the Elks Lodge # 1558, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Bruce D. Burmeister was born June 24, 1956 in Appleton, WI to Phillip K. and Carol M. (Buss) Burmeister. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Bruce was an avid golfer, bowler, hunter, fisherman, snow-skier, best friend, and "brother" to many people. He was a business partner in Adobe Precision Gear, Inc. and was a member of the Elks Lodge # 1558. He is survived by his spouse, Vada Burmeister of Carlsbad, NM; grandmother, Eleanor Buss of Appleton, WI; parents, Phil and Carol Burmeister of Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Dawn Fernandez and husband, Ken of Albuquerque, NM, Lori Feistel of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Scott Burmeister and wife, Jamie of Edgewood, NM; sister, Liza Campbell and husband, Gerald of Lakeside City, TX; brother in-law, Jerry Feistel of Green Bay, WI; nieces and nephews: Alisha, Arianna, Christopher, Mitchell, Jessica; father-in-law, D. W. Gordy of Odessa, TX; brothers-in-law: Joe Gordy of Ranger, TX, D. W. Gordy, Jr. and wife, Becky of Haskell, TX, John Gordy and wife, Lisa of Odessa, TX; sister-in-law, Donna Pittman and husband, Bobby of Odessa, TX; brother-in-law, Rodney Gordy and wife, Raquel of Odessa, TX; nieces and nephews, Clay, Joe (Bubba), Lindsey, John Wesley, Mark Bradley, Zachary, Joseph, Jennifer, Mary, David Wayne, Rodney Lee, Gabriel, Josh, Michael Joseph, and 11 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by mother-in-law, "Granny" Pauline Gordy. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Burmeister, Scott Burmeister, Skip Nielsen, Bobby Porter, Rodney Martinsen, and Larry Wallum. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Elk's Lodge #1558, P.O. Box 249, Carlsbad, NM 88221-0249 which was Bruce's favorite charity.
