GONZALES -- Guadalupe Gonzales, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, April 20, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Lucy Gonzales; grandsons, Michael Sedillo and wife, Francine, Joseph Sedillo and wife, Alicia; and great-grandson, Jordan. She was also a beloved mother to her nieces and nephew who she lovingly raised as her own; Susan Ritz, Sandra Herrera and husband, Rodney, Gerald Gurule; grandchildren, MaryAnne, Connie, Amanda, Tina, Daniel, Alicia, Eric, Gerald, Jr.; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Gonzales, in 1973 and great granddaughter, Renee Guadalupe Sedillo. Guadalupe was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of the Shrine of St. Bernadette. She was an alumni of the University of New Mexico and was a life long educator. Guadalupe was a devoted neighbor and friend who took great joy in caring for children. She was frequently seen crocheting baby booties for newborns. A Rosary will be held at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Mass will be at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School NE at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2008. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Gurule, Michael Sedillo, Joseph Sedillo, Rodney Herrera, Gerald Gurule, Jr., and Tony Ritz. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Project Linus National Headquarters, PO Box 5621,Bloomington IL 61702-5621 a charity that provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans.
