ESTRADA -- Joe S. Estrada, (Joseph Silverio), 81, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 after complications with double pneumonia and a 9 year bout with Multiple Myeloma. Joe was born in Old Town on June 20, 1926 to Eusebio and Clarita Estrada. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Albert and Louie; one sister, Lucy; and very recently, his loving wife of 57 years, Frances Estrada. Joe is survived by his sister, Margaret Gomez and his brother, Frank Estrada, and his nine children and their spouses, Victoria Baca and husband, John, Barbara Alarid and husband, Michael, Richard Estrada and wife, Deborah, Monica Garcia and husband, Chris, Clarita Glomski and husband Jerry, Stephanie, David and Donald Estrada and Bernice Reed and husband, Robert; 22 grandchildren, Daniela, Alicia, and Juan Baca, Renee, Tara, Michael, Jason and Michelle Alarid, Angelina and Arianna Estrada, Rebekah, Samantha and Sam Garcia, Joaquin, Joseph, Chris and Lisa Glomski, Monique and Frankie Estrada Hendrick, Andrea and Estevan Estrada and soon to be Joseph Alejandro Cleveland Reed; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Baca Hamilton, Lorey Baca, and Sophia and Emily Glomski. Joe was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and teacher. He was a devout Catholic, an outstanding athlete and a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII and the Korean War. He was a self-employed carpenter by trade and taught his 3 sons (amongst so many others) the tools of his trade. Over the years he built up his 1 bdr/1 bth home to a very comfortable 5 bdr/3 bth home. And even though he had such a large family and often struggled to make ends meet, he was always there to help anyone in need. He touched the hearts of so many and was a true inspiration to everyone he knew. He was our rock and our very own "George Bailey". He will be tremendously missed, but his spirit will live on forever in our hearts and memories. A Rosary for Joe will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Daniel's Funeral Home, located at 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, 87109. There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the Rosary. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at San Felipe de Neri Church in Old Town on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Richard, David and Donald Estrada, Joaquin and Chris Glomski, Juan Baca, Michael Alarid III, Robert Reed, Thomas Garcia, Alberto Reyes and Joseph Zamora. A reception will follow at the family's residence at 1032 McMullen Drive, NW 87107 in Albuquerque.
