AUGE -- Helen Auge, age 87, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2008. She was a member of the Python Sisters since 1951, where she held many offices on the state level. Helen was a representative to the Python International Convention for several years. She was also a member of the Masonic Widow's group. Helen was one of the original founders of Auge Sales and Service. She married Harry Auge in 1939 and traveled with him during the war. When they returned to Belen they started a repair shop along with Harry's brother, Lee Auge. Eventually the business developed into Auge Sales and Service when they became Dodge Dealers in 1951. Helen worked as the head accountant for over 40 years. Helen and Harry were very active in the New Mexico Auto Dealers Association. She enjoyed traveling with Harry in their motor home where they attended many Auto Dealer functions throughout the United States and abroad. Helen enjoyed her family and friends, but one of the greatest joys in her life were her cats. She had an extensive collection of cat collectables, and she never turned away a stray. Helen will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her presence. She is survived by two brothers-in-law, Lee Auge and wife, Ruth and Ray Auge and wife, Chris all of Belen; and sister-in-law, Irene Turnley of Tennessee. Helen was known to every one as Aunt Helen. Having no children of her own, she had two special nephews and nieces, Ed Auge and wife, Denese and Robert Auge and wife, Nelda all of Belen whom she considered her children. She is also survived by other special nieces and nephews, Cheryl Auge Shaffersman and husband, Brett of Fremont, Nebraska, Sandra Auge Allen and husband, Ron of Albuquerque, Glen Auge and wife, Lynn of Albuquerque, Donald Auge and wife, Becky of Los Lunas, Ray Turnley of Albuquerque, Patricia Karren and husband, Roger of Clarksville, Tennessee, Kay Wickline of Scottsdale, Arizona, Earlene Turnley of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Commander Andrew Turnley and wife, Lynn of San Diego, California. She is also survived by her dear friend, Erlinda Garcia of Belen. A public viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel, on Sunday, March 9, 2008from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 75 Manzano Express-Way, on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jay Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow at the Sandia Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 9500 San Pedro NE, Albuquerque. Pallbearers will be her great-nephews, Tim, David, Jeremy, Glen and Donald Auge and Ron Allen. BALLEJOS -- LUKE Luke Adam Ballejos, 21, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on March 7, 2008, as the result of an accident, and is now in Heaven with Our Lord. Luke is the beloved son to Adam and Marlene Ballejos. Luke is also survived by his loving brother, Brandon; his grandmothers, Margaret Russo and Veronica Bojorquez; his girlfriend, Tristin Brock and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Luke was a member of the Catholic Church and a Youth Lector at Holy Family Catholic Church and was also an altar server. Visitation for Luke will be Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Wednesday morning at Holy Family Catholic Church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Anthony Bolman. BARTOLOTTA -- Mary D., 86, a native New Mexican and a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Mrs. Bartolotta is survived by her son, Tony Bartolotta and wife, Tricia of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Bothwell of Seattle; grandchildren, Blair Bothwell, Rev. Keith Paulus and wife, Cindy, Tracy Fawver and husband, Matt, Tiffany Quintana and husband, Edwin and Talia Bartolotta; great-grandchildren, Shayla and Lilliana; sisters, Rosarita Tapia and Celia Boyd of Albuquerque. BLACK -- Elizabeth A. "Ann" Lundy Black, went to the Lord, Sunday, March 2, 2008, after a brief illness. She was born to beloved parents, Dale and William Lundy, in Enid, Oklahoma on October 7, 1935. Raised in Enid, she graduated from Enid High School in 1953. Ann attended Oklahoma University where she met her beloved husband of fifty-one years, Harrison E. "Bud" Black. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was Bud's partner as a US Air Force wife, serving faithfully with him for a twenty-year career. Ann was a career real estate agent, completing a professional career of 25 years with Coldwell Banker Corporation here in Albuquerque. Ann is survived by her loving husband, Bud; son, Stephen and his wife, Delores; granddaughters, Victoria and Courtney; and daughter, Melissa. BLONDEFIELD -- MARGERY BACON Margery lost a courageous three year battle with cancer on February 27, 2008 in Mountain View, California. She was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on November 13, 1958, and lived on a wheat farm near there until her father, Peter James Bacon, passed away. Her mother, Hyla Trimmell Bacon, moved her family to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1968. Margery completed elementary school through college in Albuquerque. In high school she sang in the concert choir, lettered in four sports and hiked in the Sandia Mountains every chance she got. She served as President of the Civil Engineering Honor Society at the University of New Mexico before starting a 25 year career in aerospace engineering. Margery worked as an engineer for NASA, TRW and Lockheed. She worked in Alice Springs, Australia in the 1980s and later in Maryland and California. A highlight of her career was transmitting the command turning on the Hubble Space Telescope in 1990. Margery was spunky and ever the optimist. Her positive outlook shown in her cheerful smile. She loved animals, especially cats, and Margery loved adventure. She traveled to all 50 states and all 7 continents. She climbed Mt. Whitney and Jbel Tubkal (highest peak in North Africa), drove the Alaska Highway, bicycled throughout the Holy Land, rode camels in the Sahara desert and the outback of Australia, rafted the Grand Canyon and scuba dived on the Great Barrier Reef. Recently, her favorite activity was traveling with her husband to visit family and friends. Margery is survived by her beloved husband, Clark, of Sunnyvale; her brother and niece, Richard and Sofia Bacon of Albuquerque; many other relatives and countless friends. BURSACK -- Lois Irene Bursack, died at her home in Albuquerque on February 26, 2008. She was born in Fargo, ND on May 1, 1937 to Milton and Alice Bursack. She is survived by her brothers, William E. Bursack and wife, Eleanor of New Brighton, MN, John M. Bursack of Manitou Springs, CO, and Charles W. Bursack of Rapid City, SD. Lois was preceded in death by both her parents. She attended school in Fargo, ND and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1955 and North Dakota State University in 1959. Lois received a PhD degree from the University of Minnesota and traveled extensively in the course of her post-HS studies. She was active in Toastmasters in Albuquerque and the southwest. CHAVEZ -- Gene (Juaquin) passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2008 at the age of 52. Gene was born in Vaughn, NM on November 12, 1955 to Carmen Chavez. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carmen; his grandfather, Isidro Madril; his brother, Lonnie Herrera; and an aunt, Orlie Trujillo. Gene is survived by his 92 year old grandmother, Beatrice Madril; his two sons, Gene Chavez II and wife, Denise, Jose R. Chavez; a daughter, Melissa; five grandchildren, Julian, Jennifer, Sariah, Jose Jr. and Joey; siblings, Theresa Gonzales, Irene, Leroy, and Randy Herrera, three aunts; Lydia Gutierrez, Connie Gauna, and Stella Luna, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. COLSON -- Ronald Colson, 66, a resident of Belen, New Mexico passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital, Albuquerque. He was born on November 4, 1941 in Durango, CO. Ron had been an avid outdoorsman and loved camping and fishing with Norma, his beloved wife of 39 years. They traveled far and wide in their home on wheels, bringing home tales and pictures of the many wonderful parts of the country they had visited. He had been an active member of balloon crews and the search and rescue volunteer association. A skilled mechanic, he had also been involved with pit crews for drivers at the Albuquerque Raceway. Along with Norma, Ron is survived by his sister Shirley Miller and her husband Allan, of Carlsbad, N.M., nephew, Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey Ray, of Fort Irwin, CA, and nieces Jodi Coleman, of Clovis, NM, and Analise Marie Plut, of Albuquerque, and his beloved Dachshund Katarina. DALEIDEN -- Lawrence L. Daleiden (Lt. Col. USAF Ret.), 93, of Albuquerque passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008. He was born July 4, 1914 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Nicolas and Elizabeth Daleiden. He was a graduate of both Marquette High School and University. He retired from U.S. West as the Right of Way President after 42 years of service. Lt. Col. Daleiden was a proud member of American Legion Post 49 and also the Pioneers Association, Highland Senior Center and was active in the Senior Olympics. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Jean Roddy Daleiden, in 1982 and by an infant daughter, Mary Daleiden. Lt. Col. Daleiden is survived by three daughters, Dawn Bromberg, Garland, TX; Ann M. Denneau and her husband, Arthur Randall Denneau, Milwaukee, WI; and Elizabeth E. Dame and her husband, John A. Dame, Albuquerque; eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Also left behind was his faithful companion of many years, Meta Cox of Albuquerque. DAUGHERTY -- Robert J. Daugherty, 79, a 23 year resident of Albuquerque, has had his final prayer answered by his Lord and joined Him in everlasting rest on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Bob was raised in Evansville, IN. He will be joining his parents, Sherman and Ethel Daugherty; brother, Don Daugherty; and daughter, Sylvia. He is survived by his daughters: Susan J. Daugherty with husband, W.C. "Woody" Smith, and Sara Daugherty-Pineda with husband, Anthony Pineda, grandchild: Jake Daugherty, and great-grandchild: Brandon Daugherty. DITTMER -- Lois Andersen Dittmer, age 88 years, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Brightin Gardens, Santa Rosa, CA with her daughter by her side. She was born in Chicago, IL in 1979 to Lillian and Einer Andersen. She graduated from Chicago Teachers College (BA), University of New Mexico (MA) and Oklahoma State, Library Science. She belonged to numerous organizations such as Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Lambda Theta, Phi Sigma, Delta Kappa Gamma and Eastern Star to name a few. Lois married Professor Howard J. Dittmer in 1941, and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1943. Lois was an elementary school teacher for 17 years, (Monte Vista, Sombra del Monte, Kirtland Elementary), librarian at MacArthy for 3 years, and principal at Wherry Elementary for 10 years. Howard and Lois were married for 60 years. They both enjoyed hiking in the Sandia foothills in Albuquerque, the mountains of Taos in El Valle Escondido. They loved their friends, social events, educating children and college students, travel, and animals. Lois especially loved her daughter's dog, Mudpie, who brought a smile to her face during her last years in Santa Rosa. When Howard died in 2001, Lois moved to Santa Rosa to be closer to her only daughter, Deborah Cramer and son-in-law Steven. She is also survived by family members, Scott, Wendy, Kiley Jo and Caden Cramer; Aaron, Chantillie, Tyler, Ashlie, and Lily Cramer, and nephew Tom Dittmer and Christa Schaertel. Lois has requested no formal services, however, family and friends will gather at a later date for private inurnment at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM. The family wishes to thank the staff at Brighton gardens for the outstanding, loving and compassionate care Lois received, especially during her final days. Also, thank you to the Sutter VNA hospice for their help during this final month. DURKA -- Georgine "Jean" R. Durka passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 in Albuquerque. She was born in Newark, N.J. on May 9, 1945 to Hazel and George Letts. Jean was raised in Keyport, N.J. and met her husband, Nick Durka there. They moved from New Jersey to Albuquerque in 1975. She recently retired from the University of New Mexico. She had worked for the past 10 years at OMI after working 24 years for NMERI. Jean is survived by her husband, Nicholas Durka; brother, Robert Letts; sister, Susan and husband, Sal Bumbico; and in NM by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Robert Abrams and her niece and godchild, Kelli Abrams; and many other nieces and nephews in N.J. ESTRADA -- Joe S. Estrada, (Joseph Silverio), 81, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 after complications with double pneumonia and a 9 year bout with Multiple Myeloma. Joe was born in Old Town on June 20, 1926 to Eusebio and Clarita Estrada. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Albert and Louie; one sister, Lucy; and very recently, his loving wife of 57 years, Frances Estrada. Joe is survived by his sister, Margaret Gomez and his brother, Frank Estrada, and his nine children and their spouses, Victoria Baca and husband, John, Barbara Alarid and husband, Michael, Richard Estrada and wife, Deborah, Monica Garcia and husband, Chris, Clarita Glomski and husband Jerry, Stephanie, David and Donald Estrada and Bernice Reed and husband, Robert; 22 grandchildren, Daniela, Alicia, and Juan Baca, Renee, Tara, Michael, Jason and Michelle Alarid, Angelina and Arianna Estrada, Rebekah, Samantha and Sam Garcia, Joaquin, Joseph, Chris and Lisa Glomski, Monique and Frankie Estrada Hendrick, Andrea and Estevan Estrada and soon to be Joseph Alejandro Cleveland Reed; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Baca Hamilton, Lorey Baca, and Sophia and Emily Glomski. Joe was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and teacher. He was a devout Catholic, an outstanding athlete and a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII and the Korean War. He was a self-employed carpenter by trade and taught his 3 sons (amongst so many others) the tools of his trade. Over the years he built up his 1 bdr/1 bth home to a very comfortable 5 bdr/3 bth home. And even though he had such a large family and often struggled to make ends meet, he was always there to help anyone in need. He touched the hearts of so many and was a true inspiration to everyone he knew. He was our rock and our very own "George Bailey". He will be tremendously missed, but his spirit will live on forever in our hearts and memories. She and her husband, Lawrence, moved to Silver City, NM about 1946 and subsequently to Albuquerque. A trained artist, animal lover and great raconteur. She and Larry were longtime, involved residents of Old Town. Owners of the Glass House Shop, they were active members of the Old Town Merchants Association. She also belonged to the Zia Roamers RV Travel Group. Shirley Contributed to several animal groups, especially PETA. HUMPHRIES -- Robert Humphries, of Lowell, MI. Bob loved his family and life in the great outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything and everything to do with the natural world. He had a special affinity for horses, taking pride in having trained wild mustangs. Bob had a passion for shooting sports and coached competitive shooters, including the Lowell High School shooting team. He was a mentor and loved sharing his knowledge with anyone who showed the slightest interest in hunting. Bob loved dogs and had a special fondness for golden retrievers named Trump. He will certainly be remembered for his sense of humor and his deep, hardy laughter. His career as a wildlife biologist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division began on Harsen's Island. He focused on creating habitat for wildlife, and he worked at many of the major waterfowl areas in the state, having left his fingerprint on the future direction of wetlands management in Michigan. He retired from the DNR in 2003. Bob also retired from the Navy, having served as a commander in naval intelligence. Bob grew up in an air force family making his home in the United States and abroad. Michigan was his home for the last 35 years. He always greeted his friends with a smile and a warm handshake or hug. Bob died December 15, 2007. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Becky; daughter, Jenny at home; daughter, Michelle and Mark of Boston; son, Joel of Kalamazoo; mother, Dorothy Humphries and mother-in-law, Virginia Jack; siblings, Gail West and Carol Ann Thomas and siblings-n-law, Doy West, Charles Thomas, Mike and Nancy Huntley, Al and Marylyn Gibbs; and faithful dogs, Trump, Anna, Chip, and Kit. JOHNSON -- Gustine Thompson Johnson, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1972, died February 29, 2008. She is survived by her son, Dr. Douglas Johnson and his wife, Sheila of Naples, FL; granddaughter, Victoria Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter, Cristen Johnson Andreyka and her husband, David of Ocala, FL. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, George G. Johnson. The daughter of William and Pearl Thompson of Texarkana, Texas and sister of Zena Helmes and Jimmie Neal of Texarkana, Mrs. Johnson graduated from the Texarkana, Texas High School in 1932. She soon moved to Washington, D.C. to begin a career in the Federal Government during those years of dire economic depression. She completed a successful and fulfilling career with the Federal Government in 1972, spending the last 25 years of her service in the Civil Aeronautics Administration, later the Federal Aviation Administration as Secretary to the General Counsel; to the Assistant Administrator; and to the Administrator of the Agency. Mrs. Johnson was an accomplished pianist, an avid and competent artist in oils and watercolors, and a lover of animals. During her lifetime she never hesitated to stop to assist an animal in distress and contributed generously to many organizations dedicated to caring for abandoned / injured animals. LOPEZ -- Anselmo "Woody" Lopez of Albuquerque, passed away on March 6, 2008. He was born on July 31, 1935, in Chacon, NM to Juan and Maria Lopez. He is survived by his wife, Otilia "Tillie" Lopez; children Archie, Richard and Carrie; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers John and Archie; and sister Rosalie. Woody was a South Valley icon, owning AARCO Lawnmower Service for 20 years; and through his community involvement, he helped create and bring several projects to fruition. His involvement with Rio Grande High School, the South Valley Exchange Club, and his efforts to help establish the South Valley Library are just a few of his accomplishments. Later he moved to McIntosh, NM where he continued his selfless community involvement. He returned to Albuquerque where he spent the last year and a half of his life. He "lived well, laughed often and loved much." He never met a stranger. He was a great mentor to many children throughout the years and never stopped encouraging them to be all that they could be. LOPEZ -- Vidal C. Lopez, age 85, a resident of Veguita, NM, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2008. He was a member of San Juan Catholic Church in Veguita. Vidal proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1942-1945 during WWII as a Tail Gunner in the B24 aircraft. As a result of his courageous service, he was awarded the Purple Heart. He received his bachelor's degree from St. Joseph Teachers College. Vidal began teaching in La Joya in 1950 and retired from Belen Consolidated Schools in 1983 after many years of dedicated service. He also served as a board member and president for the Socorro Electric Cooperative from the late 1950s to 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrocino and Sofia Lopez; son, Louis Lopez; grandson, Dale James Lopez; in laws, Pilar and Leonor Ortega; sister, Frances Lopez and brothers, Herman and Eutemio Lopez. OPPERMAN -- Opal Olive Opperman, 87, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3, 2008. She was born Opal Briggs, in Dixon, MO, December 19, 1920. Her husband, Norman J. Opperman, preceded her in death in 1980. Opal is survived by her children: Gayle Opperman and wife, Sherry, Harold Opperman and wife, Linda, Paul Opperman and wife, Kathy, Brenda Opperman, and Norman Opperman and wife, Joan; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Norman and Opal ministered in former churches including: The Community Church of Stanley, NM; Trinity Bible Church of Los Alamos, NM; and churches in Jamestown, NY and Warren, PA. Opal was a long time member of Highland Assembly of God Church, now known as Tramway Community Church of Albuquerque, NM. Opal was a dear friend to everyone. POYNTER -- Herbert M. Poynter, Lt. Col. U.S.A.F (Ret.), age 79, of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born on January 16, 1929, in Clarksburg, WV, to Henson and Nellie Poynter. He married Retha Savage on September 23, 1950, in Clarksburg, WV. She preceded him in death on March 9, 1996, after 45 years of marriage. Mr. Poynter was a pilot and instructor during the Korean Conflict and The Vietnam War. He was stationed with Strategic Air Command Headquarters, Omaha, NE, where he retired after 23 years of devoted service to his country then located to Albuquerque in 1977 as the franchisee of Godfather's Pizza in New Mexico and West Texas. During his retirement, he returned to his passion of flight and founded the Lobo Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force Albuquerque. Surviving is his second wife, Ann Bazan Poynter, of Albuquerque whom he married on August 2, 1997. Also surviving are his daughters, Teresa A. Vierregger and her husband, Roger, of Springfield, NE, Susan A. Meline and her husband, Mike, of Albuquerque; sons, Steven G. Poynter and his wife, Kim, of Albuquerque, Gregory A. Poynter and his wife, Vicky, of Livingston, TX; grandchildren, Mikayla Vierregger and Alyssa Vierregger, Madeline Settle and Cameron Settle, Grant Meline, Jason Poynter, Chrissy Poynter, Angie Poynter, Cede Lindley and Ryne Lindley; brother, Robert Poynter and his wife, Ellen, of Pensacola, FL; as well a numerous friends and family. RIZZO -- Ann B. Rizzo, age 75, of Albuquerque, passed away Friday March 7, 2008 at a local care facility. She was born on June 21, 1932 in Manitowoc, WI to John and Mary Baumann. She married John F. Rizzo on May 3, 1953 in Livorno, Italy. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2003 after 49 years of marriage. Mrs. Rizzo was a veteran of Women's Army Corps during Korean Conflict. SCHREIBER -- Eleanor V. Schreiber, 93, a resident of Rio Rancho since the early 1980s, passed away March 7, 2008. The daughter of John Kautz and Eleanor Kuen Kautz, Eleanor was born in Chicago, IL, September 22, 1914. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Barney; and her son Jerry in August 2007. Having lived through the Depression, Eleanor learned how to be incredibility resourceful and dedicated. She was always willing to do whatever needed to be done to help her husband, family, and her community succeed. She exemplified the type of person who has been a part of America's "greatest generation." She and Barney worked with the Boy Scouts during the years their sons were active in the program. After her sons grew out of their scouting years, Eleanor continued to give back to her community by volunteering to be a leader for Camp Fire Girls. Eleanor and Barney sang in a Lutheran church choir and taught Sunday school in their early years. Eleanor was a gentle person who will be remembered for her profound respect for others. She and her husband were devoted to each other as well as to their children. She is survived by her brother, John Kautz; her children, Scott Schreiber and his wife, Judith, of Rio Rancho; three grandchildren, Jonna Schreiber and friend Kim Card, Jennifer Herbert and husband Tracey and Heidi Schreiber-Goodman and Craig Goodman; five great-grandchildren, Maisie Schreiber, Erin Goodman, Madison Goodman, Peyton Herbert and Carter Herbert; and her daughter-in-law, Corrine Schreiber. TABORELLI -- Rinaldo V. Taborelli, 96, passed away after a brief illness on March 5, 2008. Tabby, as he was known to his many friends, was born on August 6, 1911, in West Hoboken, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; and his daughters, Sylvia Taborelli and companion, Clifford Miller and Barbara Handal and husband, Ron Baird; and granddaughters, Doralice Handal and Alexis Handal and husband, Kevin Ferrell. Tabby received a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering in 1936 and a Master's Degree in mining engineering in 1941 from Columbia University. He was then commissioned as a lieutenant in the Naval Reserves, and served until he was returned to inactive duty in 1960, retiring as Captain, USNR, in 1962. He was employed as the engineering chief at Lovelace Medical Center from 1956 until his retirement in 1980. After retirement, he and his wife served on the board of the Piedra Park District Water System in Arboles, Colorado, the site of their summer home. He was a percussionist for the Albuquerque Concert Band and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, the mother of his children, in 1971. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. If friends desire, they may make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice.

WAYLAND -- Jeanne Wayland, age 83, of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008. She was born on November 17, 1924 in Sistersville, West Virginia, to Jacob and Georgia Young. She married George Wayland on June 2, 1946 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1998 after 52 years of Marriage. Jeanne was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory Alan Wayland. She graduated from Ohio University in May 1945 with a Bachelor's Degree. She began her career in Public Broadcasting for WVKO-Radio in Columbus, Ohio in 1948 where she hosted her first interview format program. In 1957 she and her husband moved to Albuquerque, where she took a leave from public broadcasting to raise her family. Her dedication to the community led her to Welcome Wagon where she spent a great deal of time helping new residents see the beauty of Albuquerque. Jeanne became the founding member of the Albuquerque Chapter of the Mothers of Twins Club to give support, education and guidance to mothers of multiples. In 1971 she returned to the airwaves becoming a staff member of KGGM-Radio. She then moved to KGGM-TV where she ultimately produced and hosted "Forum 13" and "Inquiry". This gave her opportunity to interview authors, politicians, celebrities and travel around the state to touch on many areas that made New Mexico spectacular. She was active in local and state politics for many years working behind the scenes for her favorite candidates. Jeanne was appointed to numerous boards and was given special recognition by Former Governor Garrey Carruthers and Former President Ronald Reagan. She has received many citations of Appreciation for her unending volunteerism. Most recently, her greatest pleasure was in greeting visitors at the Albuquerque International Sunport. She was an expert in helping tourists find their way, not only around Albuquerque, but the entire state. She was an active member of the "Linus Project" creating crocheted blankets for hospitalized children. She touched many lives and was a mother to many, a friend to all and will be greatly missed. Surviving are her children, Gary Wayland and his wife, April of Manhattan Beach, CA., Judy Wilhelm and husband, Warren, Jenny Wayland, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kelly and Katie Clark, Greg, Kari and Torie Wilhelm, Jeff Wayland; great-grandchildren, Taylin and Teagan Clark, and B.J. Felter, a valued friend. Also surviving are her two favorite companions, Lucas and Abby. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2008 at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd, NE. YAU -- Sister Lucy Sin-Man Yau, a Canossian Sister, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the Canossian Sisters' residence, Cristo Rey Convent, in the South Valley in Albuquerque. Sister succumbed peacefully and courageously three months after being diagnosed with cancer. Sister Lucy was born in Hong Kong on November 23, 1926, the fifth child of seven children. She had her early education with the Canossian Sisters, with whom she entered the Religious Life, and lived it faithfully for 62 years. Sister was an exceptional teacher, attested by numerous past students who have kept in contact with her through the years and, most recently, during her brief illness. Sister Lucy served in various capacities as a teacher, pastoral worker, school head, community leader, spiritual director of the Chinese communities in Hong Kong; Vancouver, Canada; San Francisco and Sacramento, California; and during the past three years in Albuquerque as spiritual director of the Legion of Mary at St. Edwin's Parish. Sister Lucy is survived by her sister, Ruby Li of Vancouver; brothers, James of Sacramento and Tat-Koon of Hong Kong; brother-in-law, Basil of Oregon; her cousin, Magdalene Fung of Vancouver; and many nephews and nieces. The Canossian Sisters would like to thank the staff of Casa Angelica and the Presbyterian Hospice care-givers for making the last earthly days of Sister Lucy most comfortable and peaceful. We ask that you remember Sister Lucy in your prayers, that she may rest in God's peace. We praise and thank God for a life well-lived and a Christian death accepted with great faith, hope and love.
