SANCHEZ -- Joe C. Sanchez, age 86, was born November 25, 1921 in Minatare, Nebraska. He passed away peacefully on Monday, February 25, 2008 in Albuquerque at the family home. Joe honorably served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was wounded in the Normandy Invasion and received the Purple Heart. Joe was also a lifetime member of the DAV. He was preceded in death by his son, Joey; one brother and four sisters. He is survived by his of 62 years, Sally Sanchez; daughters, Nora Jaramillo and husband, Robert, Louie Sanchez and wife, Virginia, Patty Gallegos and husband, Peter; sons, Victor, Fred and Richard; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren with one more expected in July; one brother, Ignacio Sanchez and wife, Celia; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 4th and Mildred NW on Thursday, February 28, 2008. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. Pallbearers will be Robert A. Jaramillo, Robert B. Jaramillo, Brian Sanchez, Louie Sanchez Jr., Peter Gallegos Jr. and Jessie Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Con Sanchez and Victor Sanchez Jr. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW. ABQ. 505-343-8008
