BACCHUS -- Louise Heinlein Bacchus, 98, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, December 9, 2007. She was born February 27, 1909, in Butler, MO, to Rex Ivar and Bam Lyle Heinlein. Louise was one of seven children. All of her siblings predeceased her. She is survived by sons, William and wife, Mary of Arlington, VA and Charles and wife, Charlene of Albuquerque; grandsons, Brett and wife, Claudia of Gold Canyon, AZ and Scott and wife, Erin, of Olathe, KS; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Her third son, Stephen passed away in May, 2007. His widow, Jane Mullins Bacchus lives in Albuquerque. Louise grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and was a graduate of Central High School, Kansas City Junior College, and the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she earned a B. A. in Psychology. Throughout her school years, she was active in athletics, theater, debate, literary societies and in college was also an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She was married to Wilfred M. Bacchus on October 21, 1933, and they enjoyed a long and happy marriage of almost forty-eight years until his passing in August, 1981. Their first years together were spent in Kansas City, where she worked at a number of depression-era jobs, most notably as a proofreader. In the late 1930s and early 1940s, they lived at several locations in the southwest where "Bud", as he was universally known, worked for Braniff and Continental airlines. With the outset of World War II, they returned to Kansas City, and eventually Bud, after working as a radio instructor for military personnel, became a naval officer serving in the Pacific. In 1947, they returned to Albuquerque, where they remained for the rest of their lives. Louise was a homemaker and he was employed by Sandia Corporation. In Albuquerque, she was active for many years in Trinity Methodist Church. She had a strong interest in politics, in community affairs and enjoyed gardening. Louise had a long and fruitful life and will be sorely missed. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
