GARCIA -- Amadeo P. Garcia, age 89, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008. The Colorado native was born April 4, 1918 to Flaudio and Eueflia Garcia. After completing his high school education he was asked to serve in the United States Army, and did so willingly during many battles which included landing at Normandy on D-Day. After returning from military service he married Jennie Romero in Taos, NM and they resided in Southern Colorado until they moved to Albuquerque in 1961. He retired from the Albuquerque Academy and spent his retirement years with his wife of 61 years, four children and five grandchildren who loved this kind, gentle man dearly. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, JaeLynn Micah Apodaca. Amadeo is survived by his loving wife, Jennie; one daughter, Margaret Stevens and her husband, Dave; three sons, Tommy Amadeo Garcia, David Garcia and his wife, Myra, Patrick Garcia and his wife, Tami; his grandchildren, Jennifer Stevens, Darrell Garcia, Roseanne Garcia, David Amadeo Garcia, and Jessica Garcia; and two sisters, Rose Payne and Anna Marie Pacheco both of Colorado; many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members and friends. Amadeo will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitations will be today (Thursday) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Final viewing will be Friday from 8:00 a.m. till 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Casket bearers will be Tommy Amadeo Garcia, David A. Garcia, Patrick J. Garcia, Darrell P. Garcia, David Amadeo Garcia, Dave Stevens. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #69 Honor Guard.
