ROMERO -- Dr. Eloy L. Romero, 73, of Monticello NM, passed away January 13, 2008. We were blessed to have had him at home and to have been with him as he gave up the burdens of this life. Dr. Romero was born on May 10, 1934 in Monticello, NM, the second of four children belonging to Marcos A. and Angelica M. Romero. He started his life on the family ranch and continued that tradition throughout his life. Cattle, horses, chickens and numerous other creatures remain a part of the Romero household to this day. Eloy loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He liked to hunt as long as he could shoot the buck and have it fall right into the truck skinned, gutted and ready for the freezer. Eloy married a beautiful young lady by the name of Helen Duncan from Sapulpa Oklahoma in 1954 and became the blessed father of five daughters. He taught us so many things, butchering, building, plowing, bailing hay, irrigating, ditch digging, brick laying, you know boy stuff.
