FRANKLIN -- Rev. Dr. Wallace Manning Franklin, D. Min. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and "big papa", Wallace Manning Franklin went to be with his Precious Lord, Tuesday, January 15, 2008. He was born February 6, 1924 in Alhambra, California to Grace Ervema Chittenden Franklin and Wallace Clare Franklin, both preceding him in death. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Edith Mae and Marye Grace. He is survived by a beautiful, loving wife of 62 years, Norma Lee Franklin; his two sons and their wives, Wallace Harold and Brenda, and Stanley Wayne and Annette Franklin. Wallace was also blessed with four grandchildren and their spouses, Melissa and Tom Padilla, Sheri and Andy Glanz, Mark Franklin and fiancee, Liza Jacquez, and Christina and Steve Jeter; and eight great-grandchildren, Chorus, William, Taylor, Katrina, Jack, Davin, Luke and Tommy. Wallace honorably served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Hutchins in the Pacific Theatre. On July 25, 1945, Wallace took a leave from the Navy and married his wife, Norma, in Albuquerque, New Mexico at Faith Tabernacle. After a brief stay in Oregon and California, Wallace and Norma returned to Albuquerque. In 1962, they started a storefront mission church at Five Points and Bridge and Wallace became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. The church was then moved to its present location on Sage and Coors in 1965 and built with Wallace's very own carpenter hands along with many dear friends. In 1968, they opened a child care center and school. In 1975, at the age of 51, he received his BA from the University of Albuquerque, in 1979, his Master's Degree from Pepperdine University, and in 1983 his Doctorate of Ministry from Trinity Theological Seminary. His love was in ministry and counseling. His huge heart never stopped reaching out even to the very last day. He touched every life he came in contact with and was loved by many. His impact in this community was great. He loved his family so dearly; and also loved bookstores and sneaking drinks of his wife's coffee. He will be missed so very much and will be waiting for us at those pearly gates. The viewing will be held from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 at Western Heights, 6415 Sage Road SW, Albuquerque, NM, 87121. Funeral Services will also be held at Western Heights on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Orlando Segura, Tony Lovato, Carroll Brown, Clair Dutton, Albert Houghton and Dale Berglund.
