JONES -- Douglas C. Jones, 89, the Lord silently called him home in the still of the night on Thursday, January 10, 2008. He was born on May 17, 1918. Doug was a southern gentleman; his wit and sense of humor were very unique. He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Pamela and husband, Dave Ward; granddaughter, Kristy; son, Bob; sister, Dorothy Parker; many nieces and nephews; cousin, J.B. Edwards; and a dear friend, Victor Nemudrov. Thank you to our Vineyard friends-the best. Doug had a rendezvous with the universe. He always looked forward to adventure. Flying his plane, fishing in his boat, painting beautiful Western art, filling his life with real fun, he was a magician. He served with the 4th Marines in China and in the Philippine Islands, he was a Shanghai Marine in 1939, and was a Japanese P.O.W for three years and eight months. Doug was a fine jeweler and engraver for many years, he owned his own business. He was a 32 degree Mason Scottish Rite in Santa Fe, Blue Lodge Temple #6, and a Ballut Abyad Shrine in Albuquerque. Our heartfelt thanks and blessing to the doctors, nurses, and sitters at the VA hospital. They did their best. Thank you Donna! He will be sorely missed by his wife and family. Until we meet again. Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2008, 2:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children Burns Hospital - Galveston, 815 Market St. Galveston TX 77550-9969.
