WHEELER -- Lucille Edith Wheeler, 82, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 25 years, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007. Lucille was born December 31, 1924 the daughter of Vincent A. and Lucy Mae Francis Burres in Suffern, NY. She was raised in Stony Point, NY, and a graduate of New York University School of Nursing. She served as an Army nurse during World War II where she was stationed in Kansas. Lucille retired from nursing in 1982. She was a co founder of the Meadowlark Senior Center, where she continued as a volunteer until the time of her death. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was loved by all who knew her. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Albert V. Wheeler and one daughter, Claire Levitt. She is survived by one son, Vincent Wheeler of Nyack, NY; one granddaughter, Lisa Velarde of Rio Rancho, NM; three great-grandchildren, Adam Martin, Shanon Velarde, and Amanda Velarde; son-in-law, Donald Levitt of Rio Rancho, NM; and adopted daughter and longtime companion, Diana Akel of Rio Rancho, NM. The Service for Lucille will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1351 19th Avenue SE, Rio Rancho, with Pastor Erick Redic officiating.
