RICHMOND -- Ray Sprague Richmond, 68, a long-time resident of Placitas, New Mexico, died at his home on November 9, 2007, following a short illness. He is survived by his spouse, Gayle W. Richmond and seven children, D. Scott Richmond and wife, Katherine of Los Alamos, Nina K. Summers of Albuquerque, Ray S. Richmond, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Albuquerque, John Paul Richmond of Albuquerque, Jason B. Miller of Albuquerque, Colin C. Richmond of Albuquerque, and Travis P. Miller of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mr. Richmond is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Fay Sweeney and Kelly A. Cockrell, as well as eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and one sister. Mr. Richmond was born on March 10, 1939, and reared in South Saint Paul, Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota, and graduated from Oregon State University with advanced degrees in Professional Engineering. Mr. Richmond's career took him to work in locations in Europe, Hawaii, the east coast as well as in New Mexico. In his early years Mr. Richmond worked for the 3-M Corporation and Singer. During the last 20 years Mr. Richmond worked for Rockwell International and Boeing. Mr. Richmond was a member of the Commemorative Air Force as well as the Society of Professional Engineers. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. at the Las Placitas Presbyterian Church in Placitas, New Mexico. Memorial contributions may be made to Ambercare Hospice Services.
