RIVERA -- John C. Rivera, age 99, of Raton, passed away in Raton on Wednesday, October 24, 2007. He was born March 30, 1908 in Cimarron, NM. The son of Basilio and Emelia (Martinez) Rivera. John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theresa after 64 years of marriage; son, Levi; grandson, Richard; four brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by daughters, Susie Apodaca and husband, Manuel of Raton, Patricia Yardley of Fountain, CO, and Mary Lou Quakenbush and husband, Bill of Denham Springs, LA; son, David L. Rivera and wife, Jean of Pioneer, CA; sister, Juanita Trujillo and husband, Gilbert of Brighton, CO; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 29, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton with Domic Andreatta officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Raton. Arrangements and a Celebration of Love for John C. Rivera are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
