HOWELL -- W. Michael (Mike) of Albuquerque, passed away on August 31, 2007 at the age of 67 from cancer followed by a stroke. He was born in Clovis, NM, and grew up in Carlsbad, NM, the son of Wymon and May Howell. Upon graduation from Carlsbad High School, he entered the Air Force and was stationed at Walker Base in Roswell, NM. Just out of basic training, he married Janeene Flowers of Carlsbad, his high school sweetheart and ultimate companion of 49 years. Mike was a graduate of Texas Tech University. He was an accountant/office manager for Continental Divide Electric Coop. in Grants, NM, and later for Stewart Brothers Drilling Company in Milan, NM. He became interested in real estate appraising and moved to Albuquerque in 1982 to pursue that career. After working for various banks, he began a career with the U.S. Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2005. He is survived by his wife Jan; daughter Shari Lambson and husband, Dane of Ramah, NM; son Scott Howell and wife, Susan of Albuquerque; twelve grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was actively involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 12701 Indian School Road, NE, where funeral services will be held on Monday, Sep. 3, 2007, at 1:00 p.m.. Viewing will be at 12:00 p.m.. Burial will be held at the Ramah Cemetery in Ramah, NM. The family expresses thanks to nurses at Kaseman Hospital Hospice Unit for their tender care.
