O'NEILL -- Patrick D. O'Neill, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died at home, Wednesday, August 22, 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Sheila O'Neill; son, Pat O'Neill and wife, Melissa; daughter, Mary O'Neill; and two grandchildren, Meaghan and Sean. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty O'Neill in 1987. Born in Ireland in 1919, Pat immigrated to the United States in 1947 and spent a few days in New York before heading west to Bisbee, Arizona where he was a carpenter. He came to Albuquerque and worked as a construction foreman at Sandia Base. He joined the Albuquerque Police Department in 1950 and served as an officer until 1963. He was President of the Local Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police and also served for four years as the state president of the FOP. During that time, Pat became a US citizen in 1953. He was the owner of the El Vado Motel from 1963 until his retirement in 1986. Rosary will be recited on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
