GONZALES -- Irene G. Gonzales, age 83, passed away August 18, 2007. She was born June 11, 1924 to Dominic and Margaret Pomponi of Gallup. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Chano Gonzales; son, Don Gonzales, all from Gallup. Irene is survived by her two sons, Dean Gonzales and wife, Trish, of Altus, OK, Larry Gonzales and wife, Shirley, of Albuquerque; daughter, Gina Estrada of Gallup. Irene is also survived by two brothers, Jim Pomponi and Anthony Pomponi of Gallup; sisters, Betty Powell of San Clemente, CA and Ann Kay of Fresno, CA; and seven granchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert Stratton, DJ Gonzales, Michael Bayless, Casey Roy, Alfred Griego, and Christoper Saucedo. A Rosary will be recited at Rollies at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 24. 2007. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Gallup. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery following the Service.
