BRANSON -- J F Branson, age 90, a native of New Mexico, died Tuesday August 21, 2007 at his home. He was born June 7, 1917 in Des Moines, NM to Josiah and Ava Branson. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1920 and then to Thoreau, NM in 1926. After attending high school in both Thoreau and Gallup and then one year at the University of New Mexico, J F enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November of 1934. Before being commissioned as an Ensign in January 1944, he attained the rating of Chief Boatswains Mate and was also qualified as a Master Sea Diver. He retired in September 1957 as a Lieutenant Commander. Mr. Branson is survived by his daughters, Gwain Wilson of Clarksville, TN, and Faustine Settle and her husband, Ted of Blacksburg, VA; grandchildren, Darci, Todd and Dan Wilson, Stephen and Scott Settle, and Megan Price; and great-grandchildren, Jordon, Colin, Barrett, Reagan, Zanders, Ava, Jack and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Lee Branson on January 19, 2002, after over 60 years of marriage; and his sisters, Lenore Wilkinson, Dorothy Thurston, Jean Shirley and Faye Mullholland. Other memberships include The Masonic Temple Six A.F. & A.M., the Santa Fe Scottish Rite Bodies, Ballut Abyad Shrine and the Fleet Reserves Association, Branch 200. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 24, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, with Rev. Branson Thurston, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. BRAZIL -- Luegena F. Brazil, 79, passed away on August 19, 2007 in Albuquerque. Mrs. Brazil was born on September 8, 1927 in Robert Lee, TX to Benjamin and Hattie Mae Franklin. She married George A. Brazil, Sr. in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 1996. She was a wife and homemaker, with special interests as an automobile racing enthusiast and a winning go-cart driver. She was also a master seamstress. She is survived by her son, George A. CHACON -- Joseph O. Chacon of Albuquerque died August 18, 2007 and God opened up His arms and walked him into Heaven. He was born January 7, 1964 and lived 43 years with down syndrome, but died of conjestive heart failure. He graduated from Manzano side-by-side High School in 1985. He was the loving son of Cora J. McGrath of Albuquerque. Other survivors include his father, Joe O. Chacon of Arizona; sister, Laurie L. "Fat Man" Goers; great-nephew, Jayden Joseph Hecox; brother-in-law, David A. "Monkey" Goers; two brothers, Mark C. "My Son" McGrath and Michael P. "Mikie" McGrath and Jenny Creager; niece, Georgia J. "Toast Head" Goers; nephews, David Austin Goers and Michael B. Lay; girl friend, Diana L. Vendresca; uncles, Edward Chacon, Ted Chacon, and Tom McGrath of New York; great-uncle, Fred McGrath of Albuquerque; and other uncles, aunts, and cousins not mentioned and many friends. All of his grandparents and an uncle, Phillip Chacon are deceased. Joe's mark in this world is that he touched many lives and was loved by many. "The Apple of My Eye" He's the apple of my eye. Born to me without a cry. He's the kid with the funny face, Talks so loud, turns every head in the place. Doctors say that he has Down's Must be the reason he's such a clown. He's the apple of my eye. Born with a heart that is all messed up, Not a reason for him to give up. Operations quite a scare, but the Lord was always there. He's the apple of my eye. He's the baby I named Joe. He's the guy you'll never know. He just stopped to say hello. Many years have gone by and I stopped asking the reason why. CRAWLEY -- Mark E. Crawley, 55, a resident of Carlsbad and Albuquerque, passed away Monday, August 20, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Deanna; two children, Sarah Knutsen and husband, Ben of Scottsdale, AZ and Travis Crawley and wife, Deena of Albuquerque; one step-son, Brad Schroeder of Albuquerque; one step-daughter, Cheryl Schroeder of Las Cruces, NM; mother, LouAnn Crawley of Levelland, TX; Aunt Mary Beth Richmond of Las Vegas, NV; two nephews, Austin Crawley and wife, Elaine and Nash Crawley, all of Levelland, TX; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Crawley; brother, David Crawley; and brother-in-law, Fred Egan. He was born on March 3, 1952 in Levelland, TX and graduated from high school in Levelland and attended Plains Junior College in Levelland before later receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Geology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Mark also received his Master's Degree in Geology and Geochemistry from Texas Tech University. He was a life-long fan of the Dallas Cowboy's, Texas Rangers, and sports in general. As a geologist, Mark was a noted "rock hound." He loved southwest cooking and growing his own green chiles. Mark also loved to camp and fish. He was very funny, smart, and loved to tell long stories about his life's adventures. Mark was a loving husband, father and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate Mark's life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain, NE, Saturday, August 25, 2007, 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Bruce Wilder officiating. FEASTER -- Stephen Feaster passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at his home in Albuquerque. He was born December 3, 1946 in Wichita, KS to J. D. and Maxine Feaster. Stephen was a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He served his country as an F-111 combat pilot in Viet Nam. After his military service, he joined NASA as a research pilot and flew almost every aircraft that NASA operates. He is survived by his wife, Jan; sons: Max, Carl, and Daniel; his father, JD Feaster and wife, Maurine; and brother, Philip and wife, Kathy. Stephen was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Feaster. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. GARCIA -- Jose Antonio Garcia, 81, died on Wednesday after a very long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Jose was born and raised in Albuquerque in the community of Los Duranes and later served in the Navy Coast Guard; he owned and operated a barber shop and loved to paint and spend time with his children. Mr. Garcia retired from Sandia National Laboratories after over 32 years of service He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Margaret; children: Don Garcia and wife, Marie; Ronald Garcia and wife, Isabel; Jose A. Garcia III; and Tiffany A. Garcia; sisters: Frances Candelaria; Betty Gallegos and husband, Mike; Mary Martinez; granddaughters: Vanessa Galarza and husband, Shawn; Lisa Garcia;great-grandchildren: Dominique Alvarado; Nicole Galarza; Frankie Otsuki; Mia Galarza; and Faith Galarza. The Rosary will be Friday at 7:00 p.m. at San Felipe Catholic Church in Old Town. GONZALES -- Irene G. Gonzales, age 83, passed away August 18, 2007. She was born June 11, 1924 to Dominic and Margaret Pomponi of Gallup. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Chano Gonzales; son, Don Gonzales, all from Gallup. Irene is survived by her two sons, Dean Gonzales and wife, Trish, of Altus, OK, Larry Gonzales and wife, Shirley, of Albuquerque; daughter, Gina Estrada of Gallup. Irene is also survived by two brothers, Jim Pomponi and Anthony Pomponi of Gallup; sisters, Betty Powell of San Clemente, CA and Ann Kay of Fresno, CA; and seven granchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert Stratton, DJ Gonzales, Michael Bayless, Casey Roy, Alfred Griego, and Christoper Saucedo. A Rosary will be recited at Rollies at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 24. 2007. GREER -- William H. (Harry) Greer, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at the Hospice of the Sandias in Albuquerque. He was born June 26, 1910 in Newbern, TN, the son of Walker and Jessie Caroline Greer. He grew up in Staunton, VA, graduated from Staunton Military Academy and attended the University of Maryland. Harry was a career United States Army officer, rising to the rank of Lt. Col. In addition to numerous duty assignments in the US, he served in Africa, Europe and in Korea. He spent three years in Roswell, as instructor for the US Army Organized Reserves. He served with distinction in the European theatre of WWII with the 2nd Armored Division and the US Air Force, Europe. Harry was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and a second oak leaf cluster along with numerous other citations and awards. Subsequent to WWII he served as an advisor with the Korean Military Advisory Group (KMAG) in Seoul, South Korea. Col. Greer retired from active duty in October, 1960 and relocated to Albuquerque where he and his beloved wife Marion were involved in many various social and civic organizations. Harry married his wife, Marion F. Stinemeyer (Stiney), in Hilton Village, VA, on November 28, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter born in Germany, and by his only brother, James C. (Jay) Greer, formerly of Albuquerque and Murfreesboro, TN. Among the many organizations Harry was involved with were the Camp Knox Masonic Lodge #919 in Radcliff, KY, Zia Daylight Lodge, Albuquerque, Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple of Albuquerque, the Shrine Pipe Band, Scottish Rite of Santa Fe, a life member of the York Rite, Scotland, Red Cross of Constantine and he was a 32nd degree Mason. He was past president and a life member of American Legion Post 99, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #401and past Commander of VFW Chapter 33, and member of the Military Order of World Wars. He was a loyal, dedicated and long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Albuquerque. Harry was also a former member of the Bernalillo County Citizens Unit, the New Mexico Rangers and the Sojourners. Harry especially loved New Mexico, and was an avid outdoorsman, camper and hunter. In addition to visiting many countries around the world, he and Marion had visited all 50 of the United States which had been a goal of his, made possible by many years of travel in a number of campers and motor homes. Harry is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marion, and by his nephew, William H. (Bill) Greer of Murfreesboro, TN. HOICE -- Dorothy T. Hoice of Albuquerque died peacefully on August 15, 2007, at her daughter's home in Redondo Beach, California, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 75. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 27, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain NE, Albuquerque, NM. Dorothy was born Dorothy Norma Turner on July 10, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late James and Elvina (Mickey) Turner. She was Valedictorian of her high school graduating class. She moved to Albuquerque in the mid 1950's and worked as an accountant for FMBSM Architects for 39 years. In 1977 she married John P. Hoice, Past Grand Master of the Masons in New Mexico 1986-1987, who preceded her in death. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, an avid gardener and loved to workout at the gym. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Venita Rae (Weins) McLay and husband, Grant; three grandchildren, Kyla, Tali and Kenzi, Redondo Beach, CA; stepchildren, Evelyn Greenwood, Lexington, KY, Patricia Hoice, Albuquerque, NM, Philip Hoice and his wife, Julie, Vancouver, WA; two sisters, Velma Brady, Austin, TX and Catherine Norris and her husband, Elmer, Dallas, TX. She is further survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loving friends. She will be greatly missed by all. JOHNSON -- Doris J. Johnson, age 75, resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 19, 2007 after a short illness. Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald L. Johnson in 2001. Doris was born in St. Louis, MO in 1932 and moved to Albuquerque while in Jr. High School. Doris is survived by her four sons and their families: son Darrell L. Johnson of Moreno Valley, CA, granddaughter Kristen, grandson Corey, granddaughter Katelin, and great-grandson Donovan. Son Stephen L. Johnson and his wife Ruth of Rio Rancho, NM. Son Ronald A. Johnson and his wife Eileen of San Diego, CA, grandson Dylan, and granddaughter Morgan. Son Daren K. Johnson and his wife Kristy of Albuquerque, NM, grandson Kevin, granddaughter Brittny, and grandson Kyle. Doris is also survived by her brother Darwin Glaese and his wife Barbara of Boynton Beach, FL and her sister Marion F. Dixon of Albuquerque, NM. Doris has been an Avon Sales Representative for the last 24 years where she received numerous awards. LOGAN -- John P. Logan, 83, who moved to Albuquerque with his parents in 1931, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sue; children Greg and his wife Lorraine of East Setauket, N.Y., Ken, who works in Iraq in support of U.S. troops, and his wife Charlotte of Toledo, OH. and Patrick of Albuquerque. He also is survived by five granddaughters, Dana, Kerry and Lauren of East Setauket, and April and Holly of Toledo. John was born Oct. 29, 1923 in Greensburg, Ind. but was a true son of New Mexico, graduating from AHS and in 1947 from UNM, where he was president of Sigma Chi Fraternity, after serving in the Navy during World War II as commander of a PGM ship in the Phillippines. He later was employed for 39 years at Sandia Corporation. He was a longtime fan of Lobo athletics and loved New Mexico and its diverse culture. Most importantly, he was the most devoted and supportive husband and father imaginable and a deep thinker and spiritual person who loved a good debate and challenged those closest to him to expand their minds. The family wishes to thank Presbyterian Hospital and the Hospice staff at Anna Kaseman for the wonderful care they provided. There will be a public viewing from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2007 at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE and a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Immanuel Presbyterian at Carlisle and Silver followed by a noon graveside service at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE.

LOVATO -- Mable Lovato, 59, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007 at University Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. Mable was born and raised in Duranes and was a life-long resident of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Amarante Lovato on June 29, 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Lovato and husband, Brian Johnson of Albuquerque; son, Joe Lovato and wife, Tracy, daughters, Bethany Woods, JoMarie Lovato; and son, Logan Lovato of Avondale, Arizona; brothers, Tony Sanchez, Donald Martinez of Albuquerque, Felipe Torres and wife, Freida and their childeren, Phillip Torres Jr., Tanya Romero and husband, J.D. of Albuquerque and Tony Torres and wife, Priscilla of San Diego, California. LOW -- Dale Vincent Low, born June 3, 1925, in Fowler, KS to the union of John and Julia Low passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Billie Arnold Low; children, Patricia Low McCarty and her husband, Jeff of Portales, NM and Michael Low of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Joshua McCarty, Shari McCarty, Kristin Low, and Matthew Low; brother, Irvin Low and his wife, Colletta of Fowler, KS; sister, Aileen Aldrich of Yucaipa, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin Low. Dale had many loves in his life including fishing, the outdoors, and his dogs, but his greatest love in his life was his wife and family. He drove a truck for Navajo Freight starting in 1964, which became ABF Trucking, retiring from ABF in 1986. He had three million accident free miles during his career. Dale served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946 ranking as a gunners mate 3rd class, and receiving many honors. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. at 811 Guaymas Pl NE (corner of Lomas and Tennessee). O'NEILL -- Patrick D. O'Neill, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died at home, Wednesday, August 22, 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Sheila O'Neill; son, Pat O'Neill and wife, Melissa; daughter, Mary O'Neill; and two grandchildren, Meaghan and Sean. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty O'Neill in 1987. Born in Ireland in 1919, Pat immigrated to the United States in 1947 and spent a few days in New York before heading west to Bisbee, Arizona where he was a carpenter. He came to Albuquerque and worked as a construction foreman at Sandia Base. He joined the Albuquerque Police Department in 1950 and served as an officer until 1963. He was President of the Local Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police and also served for four years as the state president of the FOP. During that time, Pat became a US citizen in 1953. He was the owner of the El Vado Motel from 1963 until his retirement in 1986. Rosary will be recited on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE. PICA -- Nicholas R. Pica was born in Rochester, NY on Sept 23, 1941 to Celia and Nicholas A. Pica. He died August 21, 2007 in the city he loved, Albuquerque, which has been his home for the last 45 years. Nick was the consummate student exploring both Engineering and Accounting before finding his true calling in Law. He graduated UNM Law School class of 1968 and fervently pursued his lifelong passion practicing Business Law, acting as managing partner of his firm for most of his legal career. He was a giving and active member of his community, a devoted Lobo fan, a musician, a lover of the English language and of books. His quiet love and gentle spirit will be missed most desperately by his family; wife Christine, son Craig, daughter Cheri, stepdaughters Megan Ryan and Ashlie Ryan Yaeger and husband Eric. We will comfort one another and continue to hold you near. What a massive void you leave in our lives way too soon. A memorial service for Nick will be held at Faith Lutheran Church located at 10000 Spain Northeast in Albuquerque, Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 3:00 pm. SEERY -- Emma Louise Bristol Seery died on August 22, 2007; she was ninety-eight years old. Emma was born to J.B. Bristol and Sadie Hull Bristol an April 7, 1909 in Nogales, AZ. The third of four children, she was preceded in death by all her siblings and parents. Emma attended public schools and graduated from Nogales High School. She worked for businesses in the Nogales area before attending college in California with an art major. Later she passed the civil service test as a typist/stenographer. She was hired by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (B.I.A.) in Window Rock, AZ, in May, 1937. Emma Lou met a young engineer who also worked for the B.I.A. - James D. Seery. The couple was married August 28, 1938 in Gallup, NM. She resigned her position in September to begin her life with Jim. The couple followed a career with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Dam building projects took the couple to many locations around the world including: Vallecito Dam, CO; Davis Dam on the Colorado River, Arizona; Nimbus and Sly Park Dams in CA; Snowy Mountain Project, Cooma, New South Wales, Australia; Navajo Dam, NM; Curecanti Unit Project, CO; and the Tehachapi Mountain pumping plants in CA. While returning from Australia, the couple toured Europe, sightseeing throughout the continent. Jim retired in 1972 and the couple returned to Albuquerque, NM. Jim then became a consultant to the State of California and the Government of China. Emma Lou traveled with Jim to China and the Far East and enjoyed the camaraderie and scenery. Emma said, "I lived in a lot of places and had a wonderful life with Jim." Emma once made a hole-in-one on the 14th green at Canberra Golf Course playing with Jim and Lord and Lady Hutton, while living in Australia. Emma Lou had one son born in 1940, James Michael Seery, who died as an infant. Emma is survived by many nieces and nephews in New Mexico throughout the U.S. A short graveside gathering is scheduled for Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM. THOMPSON -- Betty J. Thompson, 84, passed away August 17, 2007. She was born April 17, 1923 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Henry and Stacy (Jolliff) Stevens. Betty's husband, Harry J. Thompson, died in 2000. Betty was pre-deceased by her brothers Max Stevens, Stanley Stevens and Charles Stevens, and her sister Nellie Parrish. Betty lived in Albuquerque for the majority of her life, but she has resided in Denver, Colorado since 2002 to be closer to her son. She is survived by her son, Jerrold Thompson of Centennial, Colorado, his wife Helen (Overton) Thompson, and their children Stacey Mitchell of Aurora, Colorado, her husband Eric Mitchell, and Scott Thompson of Puebla, Mexico, and his wife, Maru, and her great granddaughter, Addison Mitchell. Betty was a member of the Northdale Baptist Church when she lived in Albuquerque. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2007 at the Chapel at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle NE. The Reverends Michael Hay and G.R. Patrick will officiate at the private graveside Services on Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park.

THOMPSON -- Jane Thompson, age 93, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2007 at her home at La Vida Llena Retirement Community in NE Albuquerque. She was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, F. Burt Thompson, almost 10 years ago. She is survived by her four children, Dr. Tommy (Peggy) Thompson of Reno, NV, Dr. Jack (Dawn) Thompson of Clarkston, MI, Robert (Donna) Thompson of Edgewood, NM, and Ann (Jack) Steele of Mesquite, NV. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Jo (Bud) Moore of Garden Grove, CA, and Elizabeth (Horace) Elliott of Sun City, AZ. She was born on April 20, 1914 in Devol, OK to John Manly and Linda Ollie Shaw. She graduated from high school in Amarillo, TX and moved to Tucumcari, NM with her husband where her four children were born. They also lived in Las Vegas, NM for 6 years and moved to Albuquerque in 1957. She and her husband were faithful and active members of the Trinity Baptist Church in Tucumcari, the First Baptist Church in Las Vegas, and Heights Baptist and First Baptist Churches in Albuquerque. She was an accomplished seamstress, making most of the clothes for herself and her children. She was also an accomplished cook and pie maker. She and her husband were active in a craft and travel group known as the Blackfeet Tribe and visited many foreign lands and made beautiful flower and photo crafts for their homes. Funeral arrangements are being handled by French's Mortuary at 1111 University NE (Phone: (505-843-6333) in Albuquerque. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

TUZICKA -- Ursula Tuzicka, 62, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Lester Tuzicka; two children, Frank Wallace and Carol Bucher; two grandchildren, Christina Bucher and Waylon Bucher; and many other relatives and friends. Ursula was born on November 10, 1944 in Frankfurt, Germany and came to the United States in 1965. She loved to garden, working with her flowers, sewing, arts and crafts, and more than anything spending time with her family. Ursula was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
