STARR -- M. Irene Starr, 99, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 in her home. She is survived by her daughter, Eileen Sattler; granddaughter, Sheri Hurt and husband, Scott, all of Albuquerque; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 49 years, Norman A. Starr; parents, James E. and Rose Ann Palmer; brothers, Walter, Elliott and Charles; and sisters, Mae Hunter, Geraldine Kuhn and Betty Sheffler. Irene was born June 25, 1908 in Latrobe, PA. She entered nurses training at age 16 and graduated in the class of 1927 from Latrobe Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She worked there until 1968 as a private duty nurse at which time she and Norman moved to New Mexico. Irene was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #221 of Latrobe, PA for over 50 years. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Private services will be held at French Mortuary. She will be interred at Sunset Memorial Park with her husband.
