BARRANS -- Marjorie Ruth Pattison Barrans, 90, took leave of her earthly life for a more blessed and spiritual journey on July 9, 2007 after a painful lengthy illness. She slipped peacefully into eternity and the loving arms of her savior at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Will Larson, in Cedar Crest, NM. This had also been her home since 1988. Mrs. Barrans was born on June 17, 1917 at Seven Oaks Dairy Farm, the Pattison family homestead built by her great grandfather, in New Castle, PA. She was the daughter of W. Walter and Jane A. Pattison. She graduated from New Castle High School, and went on to receive her license as a beautician. She worked in Washington, D.C. and Miami, FL as a beautician until the Second World War when she went to work for the Army in Reno, NV, as a civilian truck driver, carrying troops. She met Joseph Barrans in Reno and they married in July of 1945. They had one daughter. Mrs. B divorced in 1948 and returned to Pennsylvania to her family. In 1953, she moved to Albuquerque and has remained here ever since. She loved the wide open space of New Mexico. From 1955 to 1959, she owned the Ginger Bread Toy Shop in Old Town, which she started in an old vacant house that she cleaned out and renovated herself and later moved the store to the Patio Market behind the La Placita. After selling her store she went on to try her hand at many and varied jobs until in her retirement years, she volunteered as a "Grandmother" at YDDC. She was known lovingly as Gramma B by her own grandchildren as well as all others who knew and loved her. Mrs. Barrans is survived by her daughter, Beth; her son-in-law, Will; one grandson, Will Larson II and wife, Lisa Collins; one granddaughter, Erin, and husband, Steven Reil; great-grandchildren, Megan, Kiley and Natalie Reil, all of Albuquerque; her brother, William Pattison of Westland, MI; her sister, Marian and husband, George Ison, of San Antonio, TX; nephews, Bill Pattison and wife, Leslie of Camas, WA, and Roy Ison of San Antonio, TX; nieces, Gretchen Ison Smith, of Jackson Beach, FL, Karyn Ison Holly, and Erica Ison Alejos, both of San Antonio, TX; and many great nieces and nephews. She was kind and loving, hard working woman with a big heart and a great sense of humor, an eccentric personality and an exasperating knack for driving her family crazy because she was never wrong about anything. There was never an argument won by either side of a conflict or dialogue with Gramma B and yet she was loved for all of it. She will be missed terribly. If any one wishes to make a memorial in her name, please send a donation to: Adopted Families, in care of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Rd. NE, PO Box 25001, Albuquerque, NM, 87125 or: International Medical Corp, 1919 Santa Monica Blvd., Ste 300, Santa Monica, CA, 90404-1950, or: any charitable cause of your choice. GALLEGOS -- ANGELINA IN LOVING MEMORY OF ANGELINA GALLEGOS FEBRUARY 2, 1943 - JULY 15, 2005 When days are sad and lonely and everything goes wrong we seem to hear you whisper, "Cheer up and Carry on". Everytime we see your picture you smile and seem to say "Don't cry, I'm only sleeping, we'll meet again someday". You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. A million times we will miss you, a million times we will cry. If love alone could have saved you, you would have never died. In life we loved you dearly, in death we still do. In our hearts you hold a place no one else can fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone, for a part of us went with you the day God took you home. We miss you Mom. Love, Dad, Julie, Glo, Sylvia and Sandy

STACEY -- JEREMY L. Cpl. Jeremy L. Stacey lived in Valencia County for only a few months before joining the Army, but was planning on making it his home once he left the military. His dream of one day living near his mother, Betty Click of Los Chavez, NM, was lost on Thursday, July 5, 2007 when he was killed in Baghdad, Iraq. Stacey, 23, died of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device. Stacey joined the Army in September 2003, a few months after his family moved to Valencia County. He spent much of his youth in Amarillo, TX, and later moved to Bismarck, AR, where he graduated high school. Jeremy enlisted in the Army right after high school. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team and 1st Cavalry Division. Stacey was an armor crewman and had been a decorated soldier. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. He was posthumously laterally appointed to the rank of corporal and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He re-enlisted in December for an additional three years, but was planning on buying a house in Valencia County. During a two-week leave in April, Stacey visited his mother and talked about his plans. Jeremy was very quiet and a little reserved, he also dreamed of one day going to college and becoming a writer. He was very handy on the computer and would create illustrations for his stories. Jeremy was a fiction writer; he had his writings in a laptop with him in Iraq. Memories of Jeremy and the life he shared with his family will continue to bring smiles to their faces. Not only was Stacey a brave soldier, a loving son and a talented writer and artist, but he was also a protective and doting older brother of his four younger sisters. He cared a lot about his family. He loved all of his sisters and would have done anything for them. Jeremy is survived by his mother, Betty Click of Los Chavez; sisters, Jessica Stacey of AZ: Shaila Stacey of Lubbock, TX; Lisa Close and Erica Close, both of Los Chavez.
