CASTILLO -- Ramona Baca Castillo, 86, a lifetime resident of Belen, NM, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. At the hospital, as soon as her cousin Father Steve Sanchez said prayers and anointed her, she passed away peacefully. She was born is 1920, in Pueblitos, NM to Enrique Baca and Margarita (Garcia) Baca. She was a very devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She worked at Gilbert's Grocery Store for many years. Then she and her husband, Hernandez, of 28 years, owned a very successful shoe repair and gift shop on Main Street. Her hobby was working in her yard. She had a paradise of flowers and a lush garden of vegetables. She and her husband loved to travel and visited many distant places such as the Philippines, Mexico City, Tokyo, and Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Margarita Baca; her husband, Hernandez; her brothers, Eugenio, Elfego, Eloy, Alfonso, and Edenio Baca, and her sister, Cecila Vigil; son-in-law, Tom Torres, and great-granddaughter, Michelle Torres. Ramona is survived by her daughter, Martha Castillo Torres of Belen and her son, Ruben Eddie Castillo and wife, Nancy of Truth or Consequences; her brother, Benjamin Baca and wife, Marie of Forest Hill, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins. A viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 16, 2007 from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Father Steven Sanchez officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be her loving family.
