MASCARENA -- Arthur A. Mascarena (Artie), a lifelong resident of Jarales and Belen, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2007 at the age of 61 from liver and kidney disease. Artie retired from the City of Belen after 25 years of distinguished service. Artie was a wonderful husband and father. He was a dedicated brother to his brothers and sisters. He also cherished the time he would spend with his nieces and nephews. Artie will be missed by everyone that he knew. Artie was preceded in death by his parents, Justo and Josefita Mascarena; his brother, Trinnie Mascarena; and his father-in-law, Jose Gallegos. He is survived by his loving wife, of 38 years, Jennie and his son, Bryan Mascarena of Belen. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Ramona Torres and her husband, Hernandez of Albuquerque, Tino and his wife, Betty of Tome, Mabel Torres and her husband, David of Las Nutrias, Boni and his wife, Lucy of Albuquerque, Kathy Mascarena and her companion, Arthur Cordova of Albuquerque, Leroy and his wife, Sylvia of Albuquerque, Joseph of Belen and brother-in-law, Felix Baca of Belen. Artie is also survived by a very special sister, Gertrude Gallegos and her husband, Lawrence of Belen. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mercedes Gallegos of Belen and sisters-in-law, Helen Baca and her husband, Eddie of Belen and Shirley Baca and her husband, Ralph of Los Lunas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and all his many friends that he made throughout the years. Artie had two special brothers-in-law who he considered as brothers, Lawrence Gallegos and Eddie Baca. Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 8:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his brothers, Tino, Boni, Leroy, Joseph and brother-in-laws, Lawrence Gallegos and Eddie Baca and his very special Uncle Eloy Padilla. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his nieces and nephews and all the City of Belen employees that worked with Artie throughout the years.
