LEIDING -- Frances Kaufman Leiding, 85, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, since 1966, died on Monday, June 25, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Wally; son, Craig and wife, Joanne, of Arlington, VA; daughter, Laura and husband, John of Parker, CO; granddaughter, Heather of Denton, TX; sister, Jenny of Sun City, AZ; niece, Pam of Sun City, AZ; and nephew, Kenny of Albuquerque, NM. A private Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, with Rabbi Min Kantrowitz presiding. Mrs. Leiding was a native New Mexican, born on August 28, 1921, in Tucumcari, NM. Her parents were Emil and Martha Kaufman. Mrs. Leiding loved New Mexico and embodied the spirit of the state with her love of the outdoors. She was actively involved with the League of Women Voters, volunteered with the Lovelace Women's Auxiliary and ushered at Popejoy Hall at the University of New Mexico for many years. Mrs. Leiding earned her Bachelor’s degree with a major in History and minor in English from UNM in 1983. She traveled extensively throughout the world, loved to golf, and was a skilled bridge player.
