JOHNSON -- Donald R. Johnson passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, after a courageous five years battling cancer. Don was born in St. Louis, MO to Mildred Howden Johnson and Robert M. Johnson. The family moved to Carlsbad, NM, when Don was five because of his asthma. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1951, and he attended New Mexico Tech and the University of Utah graduating with a Master's Degree in Metallurgy. He went to work at Sandia Laboratory in 1956. Later Don worked at Enhanced Energy Systems recovering heavy oil, Allied Signal, Medtronics in Phoenix, and Emcore in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife, Nora; daughter, Megan Scott and husband, Norm Scott; son, Donald M. Johnson; granddaughter, Amber Johnson and her Mom, Carol Cole; and his sister, Nancy Isaacson and her husband, Lief Isaacson. His cat, "Big Dude" is very sad without Don. Don had many wonderful friends whom he cherished. Nora is happy she had 53 wonderful and fun years with Don. They took many trips and a very special feeling for San Francisco and Carmel, California. The family is grateful to Dr. Rabinowitz of UNM Cancer Center, the Chemo Nurses, Whitney Pritham, the loving staff on Five East of the hospital, and the Presbyterian Hospice Unit at Anna Kaseman Hospital.
