HEWES -- Harriet Hewes, 93, a friend to those who knew her and a teacher to her children and her students, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2007. She was born in Springfield, OH and lived near that area with her husband, Ralph, until his death in 1986. Harriet was a graduate of Wittenberg College, and attained a Master's Degree from Wright State University. She taught in the Ohio schools for many years. After moving to Albuquerque in 1987, Harriet became a member of Central United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Harriet Smetters, Ralph Hewes and wife, Judy, Jonathan Hewes and wife, Ellin, Christina Hewes, and Peter Hewes; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Manzano del Sol, 6501 Roma NE. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 4301 Bryn Mawr Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107, the American Red Cross, 142 Monroe NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, or to Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
