MONTOYA -- Alma M. Montoya passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007 after a courageous struggle with lung cancer. Born August 23, 1939, in Cuba, NM, she relocated to Albuquerque where she resided most of her life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah H. Montoya and father, Juan B. Montoya; brothers, Paul, Daniel and Abie. She is survived by two brothers, Jesse and Gilbert Montoya; their wives, Loy and Cecelia, respectively; three sisters, Josephine Perea and husband, Juan; Mary Valverde and husband, Dan; Veronica Padilla and husband, Tommy. She had numerous nieces and nephews as follows: Diane and Dinah Montoya; Donna and Julio Meyer; James and Barbara Montoya and baby Jessy Stone; Susan Perea and Dan; Steve and Helen Montoya; John and Ruby Montoya; Darlene and Wayne Aragon; Joseph and Lori Montoya; Albert and Michele Montoya; Evan Montoya and Janet; Johnny Montoya, Jr.; Anna Montoya and Roger. Alma attended Draughon's Business College and entered the workforce at an early age, retiring from Motorola Corp. as an electronics technician. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 14, 2007, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Road NW. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. A reception will be held in the Church's Parish Hall immediately following entombment. A private family memorial will be held at the home of Mary Valverde, Saturday, May 12, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the Chaplains, nurses, and caregivers at AmberCare for their excellent dedication to duty.
