MARTINEZ -- Polinar "Manny" Martinez, 75, passed away May 7, 2007 of complications from heart surgery. Manny was born in Gallup, NM on July 23, 1931 to Justiana and Roberto Martinez. In addition to his parents; Manny is preceded in death by his siblings Ben, Bruna, Jennie, Bobby and John. He is survived by his girlfriend Lori Jimenez; sons Curtis and Ron Martinez; daughter in law Carol; granddaughter Emily; grandsons Dominic and Michael Kontur; sister Ceil Ferree and husband Dale; brother Ricardo; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Manny was a veteran of the Korean War. Following that he was an entrepreneur, having a successful business not only in hair styling for men, before "metrosexual" was hip, but also in high end hand made jewelry. In the last several years his pride and energy went into being a grandpa to Emily. She was his light, his strength and his joy. Cremation has taken place. Services and interment will be held July 23, 2007, Manny's birthday, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Time will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Emily Martinez Memorial College Fund at any Bank of Albuquerque location.
