THORNBERRY -- Gloria Joan Thornberry, born Sunday, October 2, 1921, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 31, 2007. She has joined her late husband, Wayne W. Thornberry, passing from this earthly life to her heavenly home. She grew up in Pomeroy, WA. Joan first came to Albuquerque in July of 1956 with her husband Wayne who was a dentist in the Air Force. After his tour of four years at Kirtland Air Force Base they had decided to make Albuquerque home. The Land of Enchantment had surely captured her heart. Upon Wayne's retirement in 1965 they made it their permanent home. She enjoyed many things, but especially gardening, growing vegetables, fruits and flowers. She was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. Joan leaves her daughter, Linda Himmel and husband, Roger and Diana Hudson and husband, Bill. She has four grandchildren, Rick and John Himmel, Matt Hudson and granddaughter, Cheryl Himmel. There are five great-grandchildren, Bob and Becky Himmel, Samantha Himmel, Nicole and Jamie Harper. She has a brother, William B. Kuykendall in Vancouver, WA. Memorial Services will be at Sandia Baptist Church, Wednesday, April 4, 2007, 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hosanna Ministries, 2421 Aztec Rd.
