CARR -- Mary Elizabeth Fox Carr, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, widow of the late Dr. Thomas Lyle Carr who passed away in 1998, has passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007. She was born in Las Vegas, NM on October 1, 1919 to Robert Fox and Frances Shell Fox. She is survived by sons, Thomas L. Carr of Denver, CO and Terry L. Carr and Susan of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters, Dee Anne Nyweide and Jack of Wilmette, IL, Catherine West and Richard of Davis, CA, Jane Jones and Paul of Austin, TX, and MaryEllen Carr of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Leanna and Charlie Berger, Kristin and Justin Nyweide, John and Sydney Carr, Sarah and Heather West, Shelby and Paul Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William and Robert Fox; sister, Beatrice Rau; and son, Patrick Carr. She grew up in Lamar, CO, attended school there and St. Mary College, Xavier, KS, and graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, IA with a degree in dietetics and nutrition, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She then interned at Cincinnati General Hospital and worked at the Navy Pre-Flight School at the University of Iowa, Iowa City as a dietitian. She and Dr. Carr were married in Iowa City in 1943. They moved to Albuquerque in 1952 because of their sons' asthma. Dr. Carr opened his private practice. Her volunteer work included: Girl and Boy Scouts, AAU Swimming committees and clubs, Meals on Wheels, American Cancer Society, and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She was also a member of the Bernalillo County Medical Auxiliary. She and Dr. Carr were married for 54 years. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomas Lyle/Mary F.
