REIS -- George E. Reis, 86, loving husband, devoted parishioner, admired colleague, adored brother-in-law, fun-loving soul, and a wonderful friend to many, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2007. He was born February 29, 1920, in Pontiac, IL. After high school graduation, George enlisted in the Navy where he proudly served two tours of duty both pre and during World War II. Upon discharge from the Navy, George attended MIT where he earned a degree in Physics. He moved to Albuquerque in 1951 where he worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 34 years as a Member of Technical Staff. He retired from Sandia Labs in 1985 and continued enjoying a life of travel, active involvement at church, time spent providing math and physics tutoring to students of all ages, and maintaining an interest in a diverse array of hobbies. Many people were fortunate to have known George and to have been touched by his kind heart, generosity, amazing intellect, mischievous ways, and his wonderful personality. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Tess; his brother, John; and sister, Lillian; his wife's siblings; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Services will be held at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 8, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday, February 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John XXIII Catholic Community Building Fund.
