HINDI -- Robert D. Hindi passed away in San Francisco on November 21, 2006. Born on December 19, 1950, he grew up on the family ranch in Lincoln County, NM. After graduation from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Robert made San Francisco his home for the past 30 years. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Billie (1989) and Ednen (2004) Hindi; and his brother, Ednen Alex (2001). He is survived by his sister, Sarah Hindi and Maureen Eckroth of St. George, UT; two nephews, Ednen William and Jhad Alex; nieces, Khara Rose and Amarah Kay Hindi, all of Albuquerque; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, and friends, throughout the world. Robert's career began as Pediatric Chief Resident at Children's Hospital-Oakland. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF and Stanford University. He attained Board certification in Pediatrics, Allergy, and Immunology and qualification in Pediatric Pulmonology. His career encompassed key roles at Children's-Oakland, Children's-SF, Children's Hospital-Stanford, Stanford University Hospital, Stanford University School of Medicine and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. Robert was a founder of the Bay Area Physicians for Human Rights. Robert entered medical school with the motivation to become involved in the health care of others. His enthusiastic attitude and sense of humor were basic in directing his life work. A celebration of Robert's life will be held in Albuquerque at a later date in the spring.
