ANDERSON -- Judy Anderson, 64, died on Friday. She began her insurance career in Los Angeles and then relocated to Albuquerque in 1976 where she established The Anderson Insurance Group in 1989 (later changed to The Benefits Group) specializing in health insurance; serving both life and health insurance brokers throughout New Mexico. Judy was first elected to the Board of Directors of NAIFA-Central NM in 1991 and served on the Executive Board as National Committeeman and President; and in 1997 was voted Insurance and Financial Professional of the Year. Judy also served eight terms as the Legislative Chair of NAIFA NM and was past state president; she also was awarded the prestigious Jack Berg Memorial underwriter of the Year Award. Ms. Anderson joined AHIA in 1992 and twice served on the Agents' National War Chest Committee, as a Regional Co-Chair on the membership committee and served four years on the National Board of Directors. In the community, Judy served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Commerce & Industry and the American Business Women's Association, Charter Chapter. She was also Chair of the American Business Women's Association Run for Education. Judy has received the Woman of the Year Award from ABWA and was also nominated for the YWCA Women on the Move Award. Judy is survived by her husband, Don Anderson; her daughter: Laura Carter and husband, Jason; and brother: Robert Newman and wife, Linda. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00a.m. - 12:00 and the Life Celebration Service will be held following at 12:00 noon in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington and Cutler NE). ARUNDALE -- Paula L. Arundale, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, lover, and friend, passed away on her late father's birthday, December 31, 2006 at her home in Green Valley, AZ. Although she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her, we will rejoice in the memory of her love of life, her sense of humor and of adventure, and her gentle nature. She was born June 5, 1932 in Chicago, IL and lived a full, rich life. She grew up and attended school all over the U.S., moving often as her father climbed the corporate ladder. After marrying in 1952, Paula moved to Albuquerque, NM where she would spend most of her adult life. She also lived two years in Blacksburg, VA and seven in Aurora, IL. After raising a family and operating a family owned business, Paula earned a degree in Business Administration at UNM. She then joined a group of neurosurgeons, as their business manager, where she worked for years before retiring to pursue her favorite career: world adventurer. Paula and her dog would often take Casa Raton, her small RV, on trips around the country and to Mexico. The Galapagos Islands and Aruba were the most recent of many foreign destinations visited over the years. She sailed warm waters, skied cold mountains, rafted raging rivers, and enjoyed meeting people wherever she went. Many of her adventures included family and old friends, most included new friends she made along the way. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and William Langefeld; and her brother, Richard Langefeld. She is survived by her soul mate, Richard Wadley and their dog, Misty; her daughters, Connie Arundale, Cathy Peterson and husband, Terry, Debbie Arundale, and Vicki Arundale; and their father, Doug Arundale; her brother, Phil Langefeld and wife, Varda; grandchildren, Corey, Chad, Tiffany, Tony, and Kenna; great-grandchildren, Leandra, Berlin, and Hunter; and many dear friends. As she requested, Paula was cremated and no public service is scheduled. BACILA -- Nick Bacila, formerly of Albuquerque, passed away on October 6, 2006 at the age of 81. He was born in West Homestead, PA, to Julia Vortolomei and Nicolae Bacila. He was a member of the Wood, Wire & Metal Lathers Union in San Francisco, CA for 25 years and he was also a member of the Albuquerque Carpenters Union for 9 years prior to his retirement. Prior to living in Albuquerque he resided in Los Lunas with his wife, Mary who predeceased him in 1981. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and his loss leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him. To honor Nick's memory and reunite him with his wife, Mary, his loved ones and friends are invited to attend a ceremony on Nick and Mary's wedding anniversary date, January 17, 2007 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

BASS -- Irene Bass, 96 years of age, was born May 4, 1910. She passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007. She was a resident of Albuquerque for the past eight years. Irene is survived by three daughters, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Those from the local area include daughter, Loyette McDuffie and grandsons, Mike, Marlon, Scott, and Monty McDuffie. Burial will be in Emporia Kansas Friday, January 19th.

CHAMBERS -- Beatryce "Bea" Chambers began her journey to be with the Lord on January 4, 2007. She was married to Marion Chambers for 57 years until his death in August 2004. Bea worked at APS Food Services for nearly 25 years and retired as a cafeteria manager. She is survived by her children Barbara Chambers, John Chambers and his wife Harriett; two granddaughters, Megan Swanson, and Lauren Chambers. As a long time resident of Albuquerque and a member of Sandia Baptist Church, Bea was deeply loved by her family and friends and will truly be missed. CHAVEZ -- Ernesto Lionel "Leo" Chavez, age 85, was born November 10, 1921. He went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 after a long illness. Ernesto was born to Francisco and Tomasita Chavez in Cuba, NM. Ernesto Honorably served in U.S. Army during WWII, was a life member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He was married to his wife, Antonia, of almost 61 years and raised a daughter, Adelaida. Ernesto is survived by his wife, Antonia Chavez; daughter, Adelaida Padilla; sister, Lilly Martinez; grandchildren, Timothy Padilla and wife, Marguerite, Carla Glidewell and husband, Shad, Roberta Cohen and husband, Thomas, Susan Padilla-Reina and husband, Michael and Jessica Padilla; great-grandchildren, Lance Padilla and Daniel Masse, Lynnsey and Rhegan Glidewell, Aundria Cohen, and Evan Reina; sisters-in-law, Percilla Christilaw, Albertina Carabajal and husband, Gilberto; numerous nieces and nephews whom all loved and admired him. COFFEY -- Charles E. Coffey, age 79 and a resident of Albuquerque for 48 years died Friday January 12, 2007 following an illness. Mr. Coffey is survived by his wife of 54 years Sue Coffey; one daughter Cheryl Coffey; one son Wayne Coffey and his wife Marilyn all of Albuquerque; two grandchildren Douglas and Kyle Coffey; one brother Ralph Coffey and his wife Wanda of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister-in-law Mary E. Nelson and her husband Bill of Bothell, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Charles was a Navy Veteran and a member of Holiday Bowl Senior Men's Bowling League. CORDOVA -- David J. Cordova - "Mr. C", "Dave the Barber" and "Boss", was born on March 10, 1930 in Van Houton, NM. He passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007. David was raised in Dawson, NM and served Honorably in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his five children, Rosemarie G. Cordova and her son, David, Margaret J. Allen and her husband, Stan; her daughters, Jeanikra and Jeanine; sons, Kody, Dru, Eugene A. Cordova and his daughter, Joee, Joseph P. Cordova and his wife, Theresa and their sons, Joshua, Aaron and daughter, Tera, Bernard C. Cordova and his wife ,Vaughn and their daughters, Tausha, Shaelynn, D'Aundra, and Kendra; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Josie Cadava and husband, Nelson of Blanco, NM, Rosie Casias and husband, Orlando of Lemon Grove, CA, Alice Bryan of South Fulton, TN; brother, John Cordova of Rio Rancho, NM; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. David owned and operated the Campus Barber Shop with his son, Bernard. He barbered for 55 years in Albuquerque. David was loved by many, despised by a few, and respected by all. DISHUCK -- Norma Dishuck, 79, passed on Monday, January 8, 2007 in Aurora, CO. Norma moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1950 and resided here for 50 years prior to moving to Colorado. She worked as a commercial artist where she did the artwork for several Albuquerque Companies. Her drawings were published in New Mexico newspapers and magazines on a regular basis. Surviving Norma is her son, Steve Dishuck; daughter-in-law, Sharon Dishuck; grandchildren, Brian and Pamela Dishuck and a great-granddaughter, Kayla Dishuck, all of Colorado. HINDI -- Robert D. Hindi passed away in San Francisco on November 21, 2006. Born on December 19, 1950, he grew up on the family ranch in Lincoln County, NM. After graduation from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Robert made San Francisco his home for the past 30 years. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Billie (1989) and Ednen (2004) Hindi; and his brother, Ednen Alex (2001). He is survived by his sister, Sarah Hindi and Maureen Eckroth of St. George, UT; two nephews, Ednen William and Jhad Alex; nieces, Khara Rose and Amarah Kay Hindi, all of Albuquerque; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, and friends, throughout the world. Robert's career began as Pediatric Chief Resident at Children's Hospital-Oakland. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF and Stanford University. He attained Board certification in Pediatrics, Allergy, and Immunology and qualification in Pediatric Pulmonology. His career encompassed key roles at Children's-Oakland, Children's-SF, Children's Hospital-Stanford, Stanford University Hospital, Stanford University School of Medicine and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. Robert was a founder of the Bay Area Physicians for Human Rights. Robert entered medical school with the motivation to become involved in the health care of others. His enthusiastic attitude and sense of humor were basic in directing his life work. A celebration of Robert's life will be held in Albuquerque at a later date in the spring.

JOHNSON -- Margaret E. Johnson, age 83, of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, January 12, 2007 at a local hospital. She was born November 16, 1923 in Albuquerque to James Anthony and Ella Elizabeth Crowley. Margaret was married to Roger Allan Johnson on April 10, 1943. He preceded her in death in 2003 after 60 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Margaret Parker and husband, Bob of Albuquerque, Beth Buhler and husband, David of Lawrence, KS, Jean Domme of Albuquerque and Cathy Dabney and husband, Brent of Belle Fourche, SD; seven grandchildren, Chuck Hildner, Maj. Ron Hildner, U.S. Army, Nick Domme, Lisa Fletcher, Amelia Karpowitz, Kristen Fox and Adam Buhler; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Barry Crowley and his wife, Eileen of Salem, OR; nephew, Pastor Jim Crowley of Oregon; sister-in-law, Jackie Looney of California; numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, Serina. Many of the things that brought joy to her life were square and ballroom dancing, bowling, events at the Albq. Elks Club B.P.O.E.#461 and 39 years as an active member of the E.S.A. Service Association, holding many state and local titles. She also was involved with The Ronald McDonald House and Cerebral Palsy organizations. JOLLY -- Priscilla K. Jolly, age 77, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007 after a long illness. She left peacefully, surrounded by her family. JONES -- LEWIS E. Sgt/Major Lewis E. Jones, 86, of Albuquerque, passed away on January 10, 2007. He was born in Parsons, KS on October 7, 1920. He spent his entire military career in the U.S. Army, serving tours in Japan during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He spent the majority of his career providing communications support for U.S. Troops around the world, and led the New England Strategic Command at the pinnacle of his military career. He retired after 28 years of distinguished service near his family in Albuquerque, NM. He went on to work for the NM Engineering Research Institute for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary of 64 years; sister, Ruth Hubbard of Austin, TX; son, Eddie Jones and wife, Nancy; daughter, Becky and husband, Roland Scott; grandchildren, Amy Schum and husband, Kevin, Holly Lovato and husband, Matt of Albuquerque, Phillip Villella of Boulder, CO, Andrea Villella of Las Vegas, NV; and great-grandchildren, Sabrina Schum, Noah Lovato, Andrew Villella, Desiree and Angel Resars. LUCERO -- Leonires (Lily) Lucero, born February 27, 1927, passed away January 12, 2007, while surrounded by her loving family. LUCERO -- Rose Lucero went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2007, at the age of 90. Rose was a member of the Blue Army, and the Foster Grandparents program. LUNA -- Mary Jane Sanchez Mrs. Mary Jane Sanchez Luna, 74, a lifelong resident of Belen, New Mexico passed away on January 12, 2007 peacefully at home with her loving family by her side and is now in Heaven with our Lord. MANUEL -- Wayne Omar Manuel Jr., Ret. TSgt., USAF, age 58, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2007. He was born in Galax, VA. He served his country in the United States Air Force, where he served in several deployments, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Honduras; he retired after 20 years of military service. He was a man of few words, a very giving person with an enormously big heart. Wayne enjoyed traveling, movies, photography and had a huge interest in collecting music. He is survived by his wife, Rose Manuel; his children, Geraldine, Mary Jo, Eddie and their spouses; his sisters, Carolyn G. MCCORMICK -- Robyn L. (Uhl) McCormick passed away January 12, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. Robyn was born in Boise, ID on December 18, 1946 to Alice and Robert Uhl. She lived in Glenns Ferry, Idaho until leaving for University of Idaho in 1965. Her life experiences and careers crossed many disciplines. She started a software company in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1970s; worked in the construction industry for Morrison Knudsen (in Boise, Idaho and Columbia, S.A.) and TDC in Albuquerque. Robyn received her teaching degree and masters from University of New Mexico and subsequently taught in the Albuquerque school district at LBJ Middle School and most recently at West Mesa High School. She is survived by her mother, Alice Uhl and her sister, Shawn McFadden of Boise, ID. In honour of her request, no funeral or memorial service is planned. MITCHELL -- Donald Dean Mitchell Lt. Col. USAF Retired, was born in Des Moines, IA, September 17, 1928. He passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM. Donald served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was awarded the Silver Star for Valor, the Bronze Star, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1970. Donald then became a commercial airline pilot, retiring in 1987. After moving to Albuquerque, he became a volunteer with the Albuquerque Police Department and the Atomic Museum. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Laura Mitchell, and his wife, Viola Mitchell, who served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Donald is survived by his four children: Robert Mitchell Chief Warrant Officer 4 US Army Retired and wife, Jean of Florida, Jan Maresca Major USAF Retired and husband, Keith Colonel USAF Retired of Texas, Patrick CEC, AAC- Chef and wife, Linda of Texas, and Daniel Mitchell and friend, Joe Candeais of Los Angeles, CA; ten grandchildren, Clay and fiancee, Stephanie Castleberry, Kevin, Ryan, Amy and boyfriend, Chase Petty, Kyle, Kelley, Kerry, Kippy, Kory, and Alexandra. RANKIN -- Beatrice E. (Smallridge) Rankin peacefully passed from this world to the next late at night on January 11, 2007, at Socorro's Good Samaritan Village. She had celebrated her 99th birthday on Oct. 22, 2006. On the night she died, she fervently wished for two things: to go home again, and to dance. We trust the good deeds of her life, and the largesse of her heart, will serve as sufficient fare for the remainder of her journey. Grandma Bea, as she was known to her family, was born on Oct. 22, 1907 in Tularosa, New Mexico Territory, to Rosalio and Beatriz Escajada Lopez, one of five children, and the last survivor. She and her sister Mary were part of Fred Harvey's exclusive "Harvey Girls" crew at one time. Beatrice met her future husband and the father of her three children, West Virginia native, artist and sign painter, Cody O'Dell Smallridge, when she was working in a candy shop near the railroad station in Albuquerque. She was beautiful, he was handsome and dapper, and the couple married, in the early years spending time between their two native states, New Mexico and West Virginia. Beatrice was always a fiercely independent woman and a very devout Catholic, thrifty to the end, always conscious to have her hair just so and wearing lipstick, up until her final days. She raised her children as a single mother during the Depression, and in her time buried three husbands. She never really got "old" until reaching her mid-90s. Beatrice enjoyed Mexican food, pasta, baked ham and sweet potatoes - and a glass or two of inexpensive wine, in her day. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where her life will be celebrated with the Mass of the Resurrection at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007. Our beloved Grandma Bea is survived by two children, Carmie S. Campbell of Albuquerque and Nick Smallridge Sr. of Socorro; three grandchildren, Valerie Kimble of Socorro, Michael Campbell and wife Lynda of Albuquerque, and Nick Smallridge Jr. and wife Sue of El Paso, Texas; great grandchildren Douglas Campbell and wife Arishanda of Longmont, Colo., Nick Smallridge III of Socorro, and Jason Kimble and Brianna Kimble, both of Albuquerque; also two great-great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her beloved son, Val Smallridge; her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Douglas Campbell and Virginia Smallridge; grandson Brian Smallridge, and great-grandson Mitchell Campbell. SCHWAEBLE-KELLER -- Evelyn Schwaeble-Keller, 88, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1985, died Sunday December 31, 2006 at the Albuquerque Presbyterian Hospice. She was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Fred Schwaeble of 50 years; beloved second husband, Ray Keller; son, Ronald Schwaeble; and is survived by daughter, Lynne Guran; son-in-law, "Red" Guran; grandsons, Nik and Alex Guran. Born in Haledon, NJ she was a multi-talented and loving elementary school teacher in New Jersey. SMITH -- Richard Noll Smith Sr., 89, of Alamogordo, NM passed away on December 31, 2006. In WWII he served as chief of communications for the 49th Fighter Control Squadron at Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia, earning the Air Medal and Asiatic Pacific Medal. "Dick" Smith helped establish the Solo Club for single people in Albuquerque in 1963. And he was involved in the defeat of property-holder liens for flood control funding in Albuquerque, proposing instead the vote for bonds that provided this critical construction. He remained a political activist for many years in his "retirement." Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Alex, Edmund, and William; and his sister, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Smith; his brothers, Fred and James Smith; son, Richard Jr.; daughters, Donna Curtis and Diana Smith - children from his first marriage to Gladys Cox; step-son, Douglas Yates and his wife, Rose-Marie, Karen Yates, Arthur Yates; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three step-grandsons. STILLS -- Earl B. Stills, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1986, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2007. Earl was born September 4, 1917 the son of Willis Burt and Mary Emmaline Stills in Dry Fork, AR. He retired in 1975 with the Carpenter's Union of Southern California after 40 years. His favorite past-times since retirement were gardening and building china cabinets and cedar chests for his family and friends. He was a member and Deacon of the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Rio Rancho for the past 20 years. Earl was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. TAYLOR -- Everett M. "Curly" Taylor, 90, born August 23, 1916 in Green Ridge, MD, and a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2007 at his home with his family by his side. Curly worked for the Corp of Engineers for more than 35 years on projects throughout the country. As an Army Sergeant at the end of World War II, he worked on the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos. Curly spent more than a decade working for the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project at Sandia Base and from 1958 to 1971 he was the Comptroller for the Defense Atomic Support Agency Field Command. During his long career in public service, he was awarded The Distinguished Meritorious Service Award and The Exceptional Civilian Service Medal. After his retirement from the Civil Service, Curly worked for Kinney Brick Company from 1972 to 1980 as Comptroller. He was preceded in death by his first wife Pauline Francis Taylor; his youngest son Everett M. Taylor II; and his great grand daughter Claire Taylor Pollack. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Carolyn; his eldest son Tom Taylor and wife Karen; son Dick Taylor and stepson Bill Murphy and wife Helga; by his grandchildren Steve Sheppard and wife Denise; Carol Murphy, Steve Taylor, Lisa Taylor Pollack and husband Dave; Kim Murphy, E.M. VON ACKERMANN -- Kirk von Ackermann was killed October 9, 2003 while acting as a contractor in Iraq. Kirk served his country with distinction, first as a Russian linguist in the army, then as an intelligence officer in the air force. He earned numerous awards including Army, Air Force, and joint service commendation medals. Kirk was passionate about his family and devoted to them and to his many friends. He pursued many activities, and taught his children his personal philosophy: live life, don't watch it. Dorothy's greatest love was her family and the Lord. Bible study and sharing God's message of grace was a passion. She loved great hymns of the Faith and had been a church soloist for many years. She loved roses and enjoyed painting plaster pieces. She was a member of the Huguenot Society, NM Chapter. WALKER -- William E. "Bill" Walker, 80, an Albuquerque resident since 1954, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2007. Born December 29, 1926 in Minden, LA. He spent most of his youth in Texas. He attended Texas A&M where he played football and graduated with a mechanical engineering degree. His college career was briefly interrupted to serve in the Army during the end of WWII. Upon graduation he worked for GE in the northeast before his love of the outdoors lured him out west to Albuquerque to work at Sandia Labs. His 34 years as a rocket scientist/engineer at Sandia took him all over the world. Bill was a devoted husband and family man who loved to hunt and fish in the wilds of New Mexico and Colorado with family and friends. YOUNG -- Leroy A. Young, Col. USAF (retired) was born October 16, 1924 to George and Mary Young in Omaha, NE and departed this life January 10, 2007. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister, Frances Brinkman. Roy spent 29-1/2 years serving his country in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1972 with the rank of Colonel. He piloted numerous planes, including his beloved B-57 Dive Bomber which he flew in Vietnam and Laos. Roy was especially proud and honored to have served with Chuck Yeager in the Philippines and Vietnam. Roy was strategically involved in the Nuclear Tests and Indian Springs, NV, Christmas Island and later at Eniwetok. He earned and received the Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Air Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and Meritorious Service Medals. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Oklahoma. He attended the War College in Alabama and earned his Master's Degree there through George Washington University. He was active in the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque Model T Club, serving as its president for four years and was a strong supporter of the Model T Club of America where he and his wife, Bernice donated their 1924 Model T Ambulance to the National Model T Club of America Museum in Centerville, Indiana. In August 2004, Roy and his wife Bernice were selected and honored to meet President Bush upon his arrival at Kirtland AFB. Roy said he had served under eight Presidents, but this was the first one he ever met personally. Roy worked for 23 years for H&R Block after his retirement from the Air Force. Roy was an avid hunter and fisherman, having hunted and fished all over the Southwest. One of his favorite fish stories was that the best catch of his life was when he caught Bernice. Roy was a generous, kind and dedicated true friend, and his special love was his family, God, his country and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 17, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.
