CASAUS -- Virginio Alessandro (Alex) Casaus went home to be with the Lord, November 3, 2006. He was born on October 20, 1929 to Teodoro and Eva Casaus in the village of Cuba, NM. He resided there until 1948 when the family moved to Albuquerque. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 from which he was honorably discharged. He came home to marry the former Mary Rita Chavez. He is survived by his wife, Mary Casaus and seven children. They are Michael Casaus and wife, Teresa, Debbie Garcia and husband, Dante, Cathy Paolino and husband, John, Gilbert Casaus and wife, Kimberly, Matthew Casaus, William Casaus and wife, Debbie, and Andrew Casaus. There are 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Alex has three surviving sisters, Vicenta (Bessie) Berbiglia, Marcella Romero, and Saturnina (Nina) Chavez; and one brother, Fred Casaus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Teodoro Casaus and Eva Casaus; and by one brother and four sisters, Virginio, Adelicia (Lita), Eloyda, Elva, and Cecelia. Alex's passions in life were his family and his music. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother who fulfilled all his obligations in this life. All who knew him loved him and he will be dearly missed. He was a member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W., the Knights of Columbus, and St. Bernadette's Catholic Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992 after 28 years of service. A Rosary will be recited Monday, November 6, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day, Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Casaus, Gilbert Casaus, Matthew Casaus, William Casaus, Andrew Casaus, and Eric Garcia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shane Garcia, Gabriel Casaus, Nicholas Casaus, Darius Casaus, Jerome Aguilar, and Christopher Pearson. Arrangements by: Salazar & Sons Mortuary 400 Third St. SW 247-4124
