BIFFLE -- Harold 9/14/08 - 10/11/06 Harold Biffle was born in Jacobia, Texas, in Hunt County near Greenville, the third son of Leslie Merine and Frances Chandler Biffle. He was one of their eight children, two of whom died in infancy. He was Salutatorian of the Idalou, Texas High School class of 1926 and attended Texas Tech in Lubbock. He married Marguerite Knight in 1933 and together they raised three sons: Johnny of Windsor, Colorado; George of Canyon, Texas; and Billy of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He and Marguerite were separated by her death in 1994 after 61 years of marriage. He is survived by his sons; three daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Harold joined Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas at its founding in 1954 and served as its choir director for several years. As a general contractor for 46 years, he built hundreds of commercial buildings, private homes, and churches throughout the Southwest. He was a carpenter, cabinet maker, private pilot, hunter, fisherman, golfer, singer, musician, student of Spanish, lover of books and the English language, a life-long learner, and a self-confessed wit. Harold died after a short illness at age 98 in Albuquerque, his home since 2000. He will be missed by his family and many others. Funeral Service will be Monday, October 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Southcrest Baptist Church. Private burial will held at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. His grandchildren will be pallbearers. Family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home, Sunday, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
