ZURLIS -- Louis (Lou) J. Zurlis, age 92, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006. He was born in Nashua, NH on January 1, 1914 of Lithuanian Parentage; he graduated from Becker College in Worcester, MA and moved to Burlington, VT, where he taught accounting for five years and where he met and married Helen Forville in 1936. They had four children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They moved to Metuchen, NJ where Lou worked at Johnson and Johnson Corporate Offices. He became Plant Comptroller in New Brunswick, NJ, later transferred to Dallas, TX. He retired from Peat Mariwick in Dallas, TX in 1979. Lou was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in East Orange, NJ where he was past Grand Knight, as well as in Metuchen, NJ. Lou and Helen relocated to Albuquerque in 2003. Lou is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Helen Forville Zurlis; his children, James Zurlis and wife, Judy of Richardson, TX, Ann Poynter and husband, Herbert of Albuquerque, Kathleen Hamilton and husband, Richard of Pagosa Springs, CO, and Marylin Buckley and husband, Pat also of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his sister, Pauline Veronick of Worcester, MA. A Memorial Service will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Laurel View Health Care Center, 5900 Forest Hills Dr., NE. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Albuquerque Chapter, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 or to the American Heart Association- Albuquerque, 2201 San Pedro NE, Bldg. 2, Suite #102, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
