MARTINEZ -- Esther M. Martinez, age 94, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. A loving wife, mother, homemaker, and friend, Esther had a wonderful sense of humor, always displaying a positive and uplifting spirit. She had a keen way of listening, comforting and giving a hug at just the right time. Her special gift was how she loved others and how she would make them feel sincerely loved. Esther was a very religious lady and the Lord was very important to her in her daily life. As an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church "Seniors", Esther dearly loved the Lord, loved her family and loved her many friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Frank Martinez. Esther is survived by her loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mike Noland; beloved grandson, Derrick Olguin; brother, Robert Sandoval and wife, Celia; nephews, Richard Sandoval and Ray Sandoval; nieces, Marcella Brownsen and Sister Lydia Sandoval C.S.J.; other nieces, nephews, family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Memorial Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2006. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice for being there as our second family and for all of the love and care they provided for Esther during her illness.
