SILVERMAN -- Leo Silverman, age 101, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Friday morning, July 21, 2006. Leo was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Frieda; his brother, Will; and his sister, Lisa. Although Leo and his wife had no children of their own, Leo was the beloved "uncle" of those who were related to him and many who weren't. Leo moved to Albuquerque at the age of 90 from Los Angeles, CA and resided with his niece and nephew, Frances and Werner Gellert, until he moved to Casa Palo Duro. He resided at Casa Palo Duro until his demise. Leo is survived by his niece and nephew, Frances and Werner Gellert of Albuquerque; niece, Shirley Levey of Aurora, CO; and their respective children and grandchildren. Leo was a devoted Associate Member of Hadassah and created over 40 memberships and Associate Memberships for his family members. He was proud to be one of the first donors of the New Mexico Holocaust and Intolerance Museum. The family wishes to express our great appreciation to Dr. William Berlin and to the caregivers at Casa Palo Duro, all of whom treated Leo with great love and respect and enjoyed his irrepressible sense of humor. Graveside Services will take place on Sunday, at 11:30 at Fairview Cemetery, Congregation Albert Section. Donations may be made to the New Mexico Holocaust Museum, P.O. Box 21853, Albuquerque, NM 87154. French Mortuary, Inc. 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
