SALMONS -- John R. Salmons, 73, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 in Albuquerque. He was born September 12, 1932 in Climax Springs, MO. John is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Melissa of New York City; son, Timothy and wife, Chris; grandchildren, Wyatt, Miles, Jacob, and Consuelo, all of Albuquerque; sisters, Frances Norfleet of Windsor, MO, Betty Nesbit of Sun City, CA, and Patricia Page of Bellevue, WA; brothers, Joe Salmons of Moscow Mills, MO and Ronald Salmons of Weslaco, TX; and numerous nephews and nieces. He served as a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1952 - 1956. John received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the U. of MO in 1960, a M.S. in Civil Engineering from the U. of AZ in 1965, and a PhD from the U. of AZ in 1966. He served as a Professor of Civil Engineering at the U. of MO-Columbia from 1965 to 1984. John was V.P. of Wilson Concrete, Kansas City, KS from 1984-86; Chief Engineer of Prestressed Casting Co., Springfield, MO from 1986 to 1997; President, Salmons P.C., Albuquerque, NM, 1997-2000; V.P. Salmons P.C., 2000 to 2003. John was a member of Honorary Societies Tau Beta Pi, Chi Epsilon, Sigma Xi; recipient of NDEA Fellowship, U. of AZ, 1960-1963; Prestressed Concrete Institute Martin P. Korn Award 1982; Fellow, PCI, 1998; Academy of Distinguished Alumni of Civil Engineering, U. of MO-Colunbia, 2000. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006, 11:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
