ROGERS -- Herschel Wade Rogers passed away Monday, June 19, 2006 following an extended illness. He was born December 15, 1926 in Stamps, Arkansas, the only child of B. Hayes and Urah Rogers. Herschel served in the Navy from April 1945 to July 1946. He attended Magnolia A & M and Oklahoma A & M graduating in May 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Following graduation he was employed at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, for one year. He moved to Albuquerque in 1951 and was employed at Sandia National Laboratory until retirement in 1991. Herschel and Mary Frances Barrington were married in May of 1949. He is survived by their children, Larry Rogers, John Rogers and wife, Sharon, Patricia Rogers-Dale and husband, Bruce Dale, all of Albuquerque, and five grandchildren. He is also survived by Rosemary, his wife of 34 years and step-children, Sandra Kelly and husband, Carl of Bloomfield, NM, Jeff Olson of Dallas, TX, and James Olson of Loma Linda, CA; seven step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren; and a special family friend, Renee Olson. Herschel was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and the AM Sunday school Class. He is remembered for his fountain of trivia, his quick wit, and unfailing honesty. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, with Rev. David Edwards officiating.
