FLOWERS -- WILLIAM V. Lt. Colonel William V. Flowers, USAF Retired, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006. He was a resident of New Mexico for approximately 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Edith Morgan Flowers of the family home; daughter, Tonya Cutler of Killeen, TX; step-son, Dr. Clifford O. Morgan, and wife, Elizabeth, of Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren, Cara Morgan of Mesa, AZ, Kayla Morgan of Los Lunas, Rand Morgan and wife, Marilee, of Rio Rancho, Jeffrey Lavelle, C.J. Gentry, and Taylor Cutler and husband, Charles, all of Killeen, TX; great-grandchildren, Emma Morgan of Rio Rancho and Shennon Morgan of Albuquerque; and nephew, Captain Alden Woolley. After high school, Bill attended Tulane University on a football scholarship, majoring in medicine. At that time he learned to fly an airplane and earned his Pilot's License. Therefore, when WWII was declared he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Bill was first stationed in England and made 46 combat missions over Germany in his beloved B-26 airplane. During his 27 and a half years of active military service he earned his Senior Pilot's rating flying cargo all over the world. Bill faithfully participated in three wars, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the WWII "Great Generation" that pulled America out of the depths of the depression, defeated Hitler, Mussolini, and Imperial Japan, and halted the expansion of Communism around the world. Bill was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of free Masonry. He received his 32 Scottish Rite Degree on November 3, 1963 in Paris, France. Bill became an avid golfer and after retirement he was a golf instructor at Lackland AFB. He established his own workshop repairing and making golf clubs. Bill was also an active sportsman in all kinds of sports, such as hunting and fishing. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, VFW, and American Legion. Bill enjoyed the fellowship he had with the Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris NE, with Pastor Larry Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary Friday, June 23, 2006 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The family of Lt. Col.
