NEWBY -- Donald E. Newby II, age 44, died peacefully June 3, 2006 after battling Melanoma. Don was a long time resident of Albuquerque and spent the last 5 years in Los Lunas with his beloved wife Tina. Though Don enjoyed many things, he loved music the most and was a talented musician who was always willing to share his knowledge and experience with others and appreciated learning from others as well. He is survived by his wife Tina; step children Cassandra, Anastasia, Carl and Christopher Shiplet; grandson Hayden Shiplet; parents Donald and Audrey of Semmes, Alabama; sister Deborah Gallas of Gulf Shores, Alabama; niece Audrey Gallas and nephew EJ Gallas of Albuquerque; with other nieces and nephews in Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his sister Billie Elaine Newby. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 5 at Riverside Funeral Home 225 San Mateo NE at 7:00 p.m. viewings from 12:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Donations for melanoma research are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
