LEON -- John J. Leon, Jr., 74, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elina Leon of Canton, OH; grandson, Mathew Leon of Rio Rancho, NM and sister-in-law, Nancy Leon of North Port, FL. John is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary; four children, son, John and wife, Karen of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Linda Stiker and husband, Bill of Rio Rancho, NM, Anna Unale and husband, Sal of Placitas, NM and Lisa Leon and fiance, Michael Fulton of Rio Rancho, NM; five stepchildren, Patricia Welty and husband, Richard of San Diego, CA, Bill Almand and wife Sheryl of Monterey, CA, Jim Almand and wife, Sara of Santa Fe, NM, Cheryl Silva and husband, Andy of Albuquerque, NM and Sandra Almand of Albuquerque, NM; numerous grandchildren including grandsons, Ryan Leon, Salvador Unale and Kyle Leon; granddaughters, Andrea Fejarang and husband, Ryan, Danielle Silva and Amorena Almand, all of Albuquerque and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Davis and husband, Bill of Cincinnati, OH and brothers, Ron Leon and wife, Susan of Canton, OH and Rich Leon of North Port, FL. John served in the US Air Force and retired from Creamland Dairies and Baskin Robbins after 33 years. He enjoyed crewing for hot air balloons for over 20 years and played Senior Softball for over 10 years. John loved people and had lots of friends from all walks of life. He was a man with integrity, wisdom, humor and a great sense of decency. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to fly, so he must have had an exciting flight home. A Rosary will be recited Monday, April 17, 2006, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel with Deacon Kenn Sinatra reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 18, 2006, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.
