LOGSDON -- Marcia L. Logsdon, 80, of Santa Fe, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006, of natural causes. Marcia was born Marcia Lenore Thomson on November 19, 1925 to Amos and Iva Cayler Thomson. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Clifford Tunnell, an Air Force pilot killed in the line of duty in the early 1950s, by her second husband of 31 years, retired Air Force pilot and aerial photographer Paul G. Logsdon, Jr., in 1989, and by her son, Santa Fe D.O.M. Lynsay Earl Tunnell, in 2003. Marcia is survived by her daughter, Laurie Logsdon; and granddaughters, Sarah Logsdon Perry and Lillian Logsdon Perry, of Santa Fe; by her daughter-in-law, Kelly Murphy and grandson, Brennan Murphy-Tunnell, both of Santa Fe; and granddaughter, Aidan Murphy- Tunnell, in Denver, CO. Marcia's niece, Junia Hughes Stevens Fellman, survives her in Albuquerque. A native New Mexican who grew up in Albuquerque, Marcia met and married her second husband Paul at Kirtland Air Force Base in 1958. Together with children Lynsay and Laurie, they lived and traveled in the U.S., Bermuda, and Spain, then returned to Santa Fe in 1976 and built the adobe home where family still resides. Marcia was a beautiful, intelligent, articulate, artistic, musical, and romantic person of strong convictions and emotional depth, someone who left indelible impressions on her friends and family. In the 1960s, she campaigned vigorously for politicians and causes in opposition to the Vietnam War and in support of social and racial equality, notably the ACLU, Mothers for Peace, and Amnesty International. Spiritually, Marcia was a Unitarian Universalist and held an ideal of religious tolerance and unity. Marcia was an avocational literary scholar, social critic, and historian, and created a legacy of geneaological history on all branches of her family. She was thorough and meticulous in her work. She assisted her husband Paul in his second career as an aerial photographer, and was an unfailing champion of her children. On a lighter note, she loved to invite people to dinner, and there will not be her equal in spaghetti sauce and green-chile-chicken-cheese enchiladas. Marcia chose cremation; her ashes will be divided between New Mexico and a favorite locale in Spain. Memorial contributions may be made in Marcia's name to the Museum of New Mexico Foundation, Friends of Archaeology, P.O. Box 2065, Santa Fe, NM 87504. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to visit the family home at 54 Old Agua Fria Road West, Santa Fe, on Saturday, January 14, 2006 between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., for hors d'oeuvres and conversation.
